Meeting PeopleOne of the great things Buzznet offers is the opportunity to meet people who like things you like or who have nothing in common with you.
Any time you see comments or content from someone who looks like a potential friend, just click on that member's name or picture, and you'll land on their home page. Drop that person a note, or send a friend request. People tend to be friendly. At the top of a person's profile page, you're given a few options to help you make friends on Buzznet. ![]() Send Message: Send a private message to the user. +Favorite: Add's the member to your Favorites page. Buzznet will notify you every time that person updates their page with new content: ![]() Your Favorites page contains large thumnails that preview the most recent piece of media that person has uploaded to Buzznet: ![]() If you're not friends with a person, click +Friend to add them to your friends list! Once you've made friends, you can manage them from your Dashboard. The column titled "Your Crowd" deals entirely with the people here on Buzznet: ![]() You can arrange your top 12 friends that appear on your homepage. Use the bar along the bottom to browse through your friends to find them. Then drag them to the top box (in blue) and arrange them in the order you want them to appear. You can also accept or deny any friend requests you see in this area: ![]() Just click the box next to each person and choose whether you want to approve or disapprove them as a friend at the bottom: ![]() If you're ok with everyone (or you want to deny everyone) just click the option at the top of the page: ![]() You can also check on the status of any friend requests you've sent and withdraw them if necessary: ![]() The final option ("Friend Settings") gives you the option to have private messages sent to you every time you're added as someone's friend or to auto-add every person who adds you: ![]() Still, you have a better chance of turning strangers into friends by attempting to connect with like-minded individuals. One easy strategy to discover Buzznet members who share your interests is to click the tags that have been added below photos, videos and journals. Clicking tags takes you to a Tag Page. The Tag Page collects all the content posted by Buzznet members that is labeled with that specific tag. The most recently posted content is displayed furthest up.
The Tag Page header bar (example above) contains links to that specific tag's Main page, Photos, Videos, Journals and the Forum. The Tag Page header will also lead you, through the People link, to the personal pages of members who actively upload items to that tag. ![]() Ready to make contact? Go ahead and discuss common interests on the forums with other members. Or navigate through the People page to locate individual users from your favorite Tags and visit their pages.
Another avenue to sympathetic souls is through the interests that you filled out on your profile. (If you haven't listed your interests, use the 'Edit' button from your Profile Page, or select the interests option in Settings.) ![]() The music, TV shows, movies and books you list as your favorites will display as links. Those links lead to a page that collects everyone who has also listed that book, film, TV show or general interest as a favorite. But even then, all of these just lead you to groups of people who have similar interests. How do you actually go about talking to these people? We'll leave that up to our longtime, respected goddess Paxgitmo to describe that to you: Leave interesting comments. Make them about the post you're actually commenting on; for instance, instead of your level of boredom with your hollow empty existence, be specific -'yr hott' isn't as compelling as 'your skin is the color of a gardenia corsage the day after a lucky prom night'. Don't be mean. If you have to be mean, be interesting. Be nice. You can't ever go wrong being honest, nice and sincere. Don't take it seriously and you can't get hurt. And be aware some people come here to chat, and others to write and post. Comments can be a mix of both. IF someone doesn't get back to you, it's not because they hate you. We all have lives outside of this. And don't assume that because no one is commenting that we aren't looking at your stuff. Trust me, someone is appreciating it. Wise words, don't you think?
