Weezer Unexpectedly Loses Former Bassist
Weezer's bassist from 1998-2001 (which immediately followed Pinkerton, and included the production of The Green Album and some appearances on the Vans Warped Tour), Mikey Welsh unexpectedly passed away yesterday at the age of 40. A post on Welsh's official Facebook page states: "We are deeply saddened to announce that Mikey Welsh passed away unexpectedly today. He will forever be remembered as an amazing father, artist, and friend. May he rest in peace."
The official Weezer twitter went to say: "We are shocked and deeply saddened to hear the awful news, our friend and fellow weez rocker @mikeywelsh71 has passed away. We love u Mikey."
Truly saddening news for a sunday morning.
