Seen Pat's [Kirch] drumset lately? It has the word "Pioneer" makeshiftly written in what seems to be graphing tape. Of course the very cryptic and wordy boys of The Maine have something behind that gesture--it's the title of their new album. The summer heat is fading fast and fall is just around the corner -- time to head back to school. Fleeting is that the summer freedom of staying up late and sleeping in BUT we have something that will pull you out of the back-to-school-blues. This Century’s Joel Kanitz has shared with Buzznet what his high school experience was like and some of his answers may surprise you. Check it out below and this vintage picture we found of Mr. Kanitz at a school dance. CUTE!  What were your extracurricular activities? (band, drama club, sports?) I played soccer and baseball. I wasn't very good at baseball but soccer went well. I was also in choir for two years. What was your high school's mascot? A Coyote. My second high school was a fine arts school and had no mascot. Did you ever write down a REALLY ridiculous answer on a test? Not that I can remember. I did circle all C's once on a multiple choice test. If you could have gone to any fictional high school, which one would it have been? Hogwarts. That's a no brainer. Favorite place to hang or hide at your school? There was this half wall outside that the group I hung out with would sit on. When the freshman would walk by, we'd throw donuts at them. It was really mean and a waste of donuts. What did you usually eat for lunch? I ate a lot of burritos from this mexican restaurant nearby called Filiberto's. Were you ever bullied?  If so, how did you deal with it? Not in high school. Maybe a little in grade school. I'd either fight the kids or, if they were too big, I'd go home and cry. What song, band or album do you most identify with your high school experience? Definitely the album "They're Only Chasing Safety" by Underoath. What was the most trouble you ever got in, and what was it for? During freshman year at my first high school, I was dared by my brother and all of his junior and senior friends to microwave a sock, so I did. Long story short, the sock caught on fire and filled the entire cafeteria with smoke. I got a month of detention. The principal also decided to ban the entire school from using the microwaves for a week. Half of the school hated me and half of the school thought it was funny.
