Punk Rock/Alternative Rock group The Offspring debuted their new single "Days Go By" this past Friday on Los Angeles radio station KROQ during the "Kevin and Bean Show". Lead Vocalist Dexter Holland and Guitarist Noodles made a stop at the studio to not only debut the new single, but to discuss the new album which is the same title of the single that will be coming out this summer.
“The record’s been done for a few weeks now and we’ve been sitting on it. Nobody’s heard it. You’re sitting on this thing and you want people to hear it, it’s always a really weird time,” says Noodles in an interview with KROQ Los Angeles this morning."
When asked about the new album; Holland replied “It’s been a work in progress. We’ve been working on this record for a couple of years and this is one of the first ones we wrote. It’s gone through stages where we’ll play it for a while and say, you know that could be a little bit better… Usually people don’t know about that as we revise songs but now with the Internet it’s different. We were just in Japan and we were gonna debut a new song off the record and we knew that as soon as we played it in Japan it would be on YouTube… We’re basically playing it for the whole world.”
It has been over 4 years since the band released their 8th album, the lackluster Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace whichh featured the hit single, "You're Gonna Go Far Kid". The new album will be produced by Bob Rock who has worked with bands such Lostprophets, Tonic, and most recently Bush, and 311. The new single is less gimmicky of its predecessors and has a Foo Fighters sound to it. But it still has that Ixnay on the Hombre feel. Days Go By hits record stores on June 26th. Until then, you can take a listen of the new single for yourself.
