Chapter 20
Josh felt as if everything was going in slow motion, Thabitha's steps and screams achoes againts the walls of the room, he caughts the evil look on Alexa's face and than he feels someone slapping him hard across the face, that's when everythings turning back to reality, like someone just turned the volume up.
- I knew that you were both lying to me! Thabitha screamed as tears kept on falling from her eyes, you were lying, she pointed at Alexa, and you, she looked at Josh, he could see the pain in her blood shot eyes.
- Listen, i swear it's not what you think, Josh begged, Alexa's mouth slightly dropped but she realized that it must've been only a tactique to get Thabitha think that he really cared for her and wasn't just using her because Alexa new for sure that him and Hayley weren't over.
- Don't touch me! Thabitha snapped as Josh approached her, you're a liar, why did you even need me? she demanded.
- Alexa's insane! Josh snapped, she threw herself on me! Josh said.
- Oh Joshie, you really are a liar, Alexa smirked, he glared at her and followed after Thabitha who run out of the room.
- Please, wait! Josh begged but she kept on running, a part of Josh realized that it was a way to break up with Thabitha without inventing an excuse but he couldn't let her think that he used her like that, he couldn't tell her the whole truth ether but somehow trusted Thabitha more than Alexa anyways who he knew did that trick on purpose.
- Leave me alone! Thabitha screamed as tears kept on pouring down her face , she pushed Josh away as they were outside, don't ever speak to me! she snapped through sobs and run off. Josh cussed under his breath and run his hands through his hair. As he returned back home Alexa stood in the doorway smirking at him.
- Great Job, Josh muttered under his breath.
- That was a good act Josh, trying to pretend like you care, Josh please, stop that, you used her to make everyone think you're over Hayley but i know damn well that you two are not over!
- You really need help, Alexa, Josh muttered, get out of my house, he hissed.
- Whatever but don't think i'm done with this, she hissed and walked away. Josh slammed the door shut and went into his living room crushing on the couch. He was tired of all the pretending and lies, he felt bad for Thabitha but didn't want her to think the wrong things about him ether, he wanted to explain everything to her but only when the time would be right.
Rubbing his tired eyes Josh turned off his laptop and headed to bed. He was unable to find any good pleace to live because he still did not find any job and he knew he had to find a job in the city he would move to. Lying in his bed Josh kept on thinking until finally he had an idea popping into his mind, he knew that it was the only chance for him to move away and rent some place to live in.
Walking down the hall on the next day he kept on searching for Thabitha, he found her when she was all alone and decided to talk to her. Taking a deep breath he approached her and grabbed her arm, she gasped and turned around, her eyes expressed sadness and pain, she looked down.
- What do you want Josh? she asked quietly, came to tell me how happy you are with Alexa, she muttered and pulled her arm away from his grip.
- I'm not with her and i would never be with her, Josh said, she threw herself on me, i swear, Josh said and sighed, i really need to talk to you.
- I don't want to talk to you, you're a liar, Thabitha muttered.
- Please i really need to tell you- the bell rang cutting Josh off.
- I don't want to talk to you, get away from men! Thabitha snapped and walked to class, Josh sighed deeply and followed after her.
In the end of the day Josh followed Thabitha one's she gathered her books from her locker and walked outside, he followed her to her car.
- Josh, she snapped as she noticed him, stop following me around! she snapped angrily.
- Please just hear me out, it's important, he said, she gave him a look before climbing into her car and mentionning for him to climb in as well.
- Thank you, Josh sighed and closed the door, listen, you're right for hating me, i am a liar, Josh sighed.
- I'm really sad to hear that Josh, Thabitha whispered and looked away quickly wiping her tears away.
- I'm so sorry, i never wanted to hurt you like that, Josh started, you're a great person and i'm, Josh chewed into his lip ring, i did not kiss Alexa last night though, Josh sighed.
- How can you, how can you keep on lying? Thabitha hissed.
- I'm telling the truth but you have all the rights to hate me because i, he looked down, i dated you just to make everyone think that me and Hayley were over.
- What are you talking about? Thabitha demanded confused, she didn't expect him to talk about this girl, she though it was some lie that him and Alexa made up.
- That story that Alexa told you, it's true, Josh sighed deeply before telling Thabitha the whole story about him and Hayley. When he was finished he could see the shock on Thabitha's face, she run her hand throuh her blond hair.
- So you still see her? Thabitha asked quietly.
- I saw her one's since she was send to live with her aunt, her parents hate me and i don't want them to know about the baby because i don't want to loose Hayley nor do i want to loose your child, Josh whispered.
- Why didn't you just told them the truth in the beginging? Thabitha asked feeling somehow sorry for Josh and Hayley.
- I can't do that, i told you, they hate me, anything could happend if we tell them the truth, Josh said.
- So you used me, Thabitha whipered.
- I'm sorry if it sounds that way, Josh whispered,i'm really sorry.
- So what are you going to do now? Thabitha asked changing the subject.
- I want to move away and get a job and than get Hayley so we could live together and take care of the baby, Josh said softly.
- I see, Thabitha whispered, how are you going to move away?
- I need to make it quick so Hayley's parents or Alexa won't notice, Josh said with determination.
- So you'll need help, Thabitha trailled off.
- Can i trust you? Josh asked and grabbed her hand, Thabitha looked down and chewed into her lip.
- Of course Josh, she whispered, even though you're hurting me, she trailed of, you really love her don't you? she whispered.
- I really do and now i can't go back, i have to make this work, Josh said as he let go of Thabitha's hand.
- If you ever need me to help you, i'm here, Thabitha said softly and looked up into Josh's eyes.
- Thank you so much, he hugged her, Thabitha closed her eyes and hugged him back trying her best not to break down knowing that he would never be hers, that his heart already belonged to somebody else.
Sighing softly Hayley quickly washed her face and fixed her hair while her cousin waited for her on the other side of the door, Hayley was scared that if she was getting sick was to much at home her parents might get suspicious and she prayed that Josh would make everything work fast before it could be to late.
- Feeling better now? Christina asked as Hayley walked down the hall with her.
- Yeah, Hayley smiled weakly, i hope everything 's okay on Josh's side, i'm getting worried, she whispered.
- But you talked to him last night, he'll take you away from here and, Christina bit into her lip, we'll all help, she hugged Hayley.
- Thank you, Hayley whispered and chewed into her lip.
- He'll call right- Christina begun but the ringtone of her phone cut her off, the both girls laughed and she handed Hayley the phone before running towards Taylor who waited for her on the parking lot.
- Hey baby, Josh whispered, Hayley giggled.
- You never called me that, it's kind of wierd, she laughed and sat down on the steps.
- I know, he laughed back, how are you? he asked softly.
- I'm good, Josh's i'm really worried, is everything okay?
- Well, Josh begun, me and Thabitha broke up.
- What? Hayley whispered, already? I mean how? she asked.
- Well, Josh chewed on his lipring, it's a long story but know she knows about our secret.
- You told her? Hayley excliamed and stood up, why did you do that? she demanded.
- Hayles, calm down, Josh said softly, she understood and she won't tell Alexa or anyone, she promissed me.
- How can you just, how can you trust her? Hayley whispered and sat back down.
- Let's say she hates Alexa and she will help me with everything, Josh sighed, don't worry okay, i've got it all under controm now, he reassured her.
- God, Josh, you're scaring me, she whispered and run her hand through her hair.
- Don't worry, he said softly, everything's going to be okay.
- I really hope so, she whispered, i'm scared that my parents might find out, i'm really scared Josh.
- Please, don't be, just hold on a little more and than i'll take you away, i promise Hayley.
- Okay, Hayley whispered, i love you very much, she whispered and sighed deeply.
- I love you too and only you, i love you Hayles.
- I have to go, Hayley whispered, my aun't here, she sighed.
- Okay, i'll talk to you tomorrow, Josh whispered, bye, the line wen dead.
- What happend, why were you screaming? Christina whispred one's they were riding back home.
- Lost story, Hayley whispered and rested her head against the window, she sighed deeplyand placed her hand over her stomach.
- Okay than, Christina whipered and sighed softly.
- Hey, Thabitha smiled as she walked up to Josh's car, he smiled.
- Hey, want a ride home? he asked.
- Well, she chewed into her lip than noticed Alexa making their way towards them, Josh, she whispered.
- Get in the car, Josh said, she quickly climbed into the car and shut the door, they looked at each other for a moment before Thabitha leaned in and gave Josh a quick kiss on the lips. Pulling away she looked out of the window seeing Alexa's pale and angry face, smirking she glanced back at Josh who looked at her confused.
- Sorry, i didn't find any other way to fool her, Thabitha said.
- Oh that, Josh sighed in relief and glanced at Alexa who stood there motionlees, he smiled and drove off the parking lot.
- I think she bought it, Josh laughed.
- Yeah, Thabitha whispered feeling her heart beat faster, she couldn't just get over Josh so quickly, they were still together and happy yesturday, well at last it's what she thought.
- I'm so sorry, Josh trailled off as he parked the car in the driveway of Thabitha's house.
- Forget about that Josh, Thabitha said and rubbed her hands, she chewed into her lip, i don't hate you for it, listen, i think we should pretend to be together for a bit, i mean for Alexa.
- Maybe we could, Josh whispered, yes it could be a good excuse when i'd need to move out, we could say we're going on a trip or something, he smiled.
- That's not such a bad idea, Thabitha smiled as they walked out of the car. Josh walked her her to the door, she turned around and sighed.
- I wish, i wish you loved me instead, she whispered, Josh chewed into his lipring, what am i saying, she shook her head, i'm so sorry, don't worry i won't be like Alexa, i promise, she smiled.
- Thank you for that, you'ree really a good friend, than you, Josh hugged her quickly.
- Yeah, just call me when you'll need my help or when Alexa's around and that idea about the trip is not bad, she smiled.
- Yeah, i think so too, i'll try to talk to Hayley about it.
- How is she, Hayley? Thabitha asked, i mean what does she looks like? she asked curiously. Josh chuckled and rubbed his neck awkwardly.
- Well she's really short, had a gap in between her front teeth, she dye her hair from yellow to red, he chuckled, she has the most amazing laugh and she has been my best friend since we're thirteen, i guess that's why i love her so much, he smiled.
- I see, Thabitha giggled, that look on your face when you talk about her, she laughed, Josh blushed and laughed too.
- I really hope everything works out for you two.
- Thank you, i'll see you tomorrow morning, Josh smiled and hugged her again, bye.
- Bye , Thabitha whispered and sighed deeply as she watched Josh's car drive down the road. She knew would miss being with him but hearing his story really made her believe that him and Hayley needed help, that they deserved to be happy.
Taking a deep breath Josh grabbed him phone and composed a very familiar number, his heart was beating faster after each ring tone before he heard his father's voice on the other line.
- Hey, dad, what's up? he asked casually.
- Well, how come you remembered us son? his father joked.
- Sorry dad, got caught up in some things here, Josh smiled.
- So how are you?
- Thanks, i'm great, Josh trailled off.
- But i can sense in her voice that something's not that great, his father said.
- Well, it's kind of complicated, Josh sighed, dad i really need your help.
