QOTD: Who is your favorite female vocalist or band?

Suggested by MorbidSiren.

Even though the music industry still seems to be dominated by men, let's celebrate and enjoy female musicians! Who is your favorite? They can be solo, a singer/songwriter, the singer of a band, or even just the musician in the band.

Why are they your favorite? Do you think it's been harder for them as a female to find success? (If they aren't OMG BIGGEST BAND IN THE WORLD, do you think they'll find difficulty in the future?)

hahahaaa... she is a cause for good times. Go listen. :)

but I really like female singers with loud strong voices like Jennifer Hudson. What I've heard from her cd is kind of ehh, but the girl can sing.

My teacher used to get me to sing it solo alot though...something about how she loved that I could hit all the notes or something.
They were one of my favorite bands when I was about 12 as well, I just fell in love with "Linger" right away :)

I cannot believe also, that I forgot Joni Mitchell

definately Amy Lee of Evanescence or Christina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil they are awesome!(Hayley Williams is pretty good too though)

Well, that depends. My favorite female vocalists in bands are Greta from The Hush Sound and Cassie from Hey Monday. I also like Juliet from The Automatic Loveletter.

For classical music and opera type stuff I like Sarah Brightman.

Pop music, Christina Aguilera owns.

And definately Amy Winehouse.
