Emily Schambra, of Holy Roman Empire (who recently split up) has an incredible voice. She's the guest female vocalist on the last Rise Against, album, The Sufferer and the Witness.

She's a bit of a tomboy, and generally in bands with lots of guys, so she perhaps doesn't get the recognition that some of the more overtly girly or 'scene' girls do, but she's really capable with an amazingly powerful and well trained voice. Hopefully her new projects should get some attention, now that HRE are sadly no more.

Victoria Tibblin, a singer. her voice really fascinate me and her scream is badass too =w= plus, her video 'Make me pretty' is so artistic and awesome.

and Nina Persson. her voice is just lovely :3

ALANIS MORRISETTE. Hands down. I have this theory that as soon as a woman goes through her big bad break-up (TM) that just about all of us will go through, they should be greeted by friends with chocolate, liquor (or something non-alcoholic to drink if that's their thing) and a copy of "Jagged Little Pill." Because the amount of honesty and the emotional rollercoaster on that album (I'm bitter, I want you back, I need to learn from this, I'm okay without you, am I okay without you?) is what you need at that point and probably at other points afterwards.

As for women breaking into the industry? I don't know why people are so critical of them, but it happens. I've seen people who worship guys in bands who openly admit to drinking, smoking pot or doing other drugs basically try to crucify a girl in a band for underaged drinking.

It's like the Miley Cyrus thing, too. Scantily clad pictures of her leak and she's "a total whore." Pete Wentz's DICK was on the internet and you've got practically the same people defending his honor and saying his talent is more important. And don't get me wrong, I like Pete, but Miley as a vocalist and musician is more talented than he is (he writes great lyrics, but face it, PATRICK is the musical genius. Pete's made comments constantly about how he's not really that great of a bassist and DEAR GOD HAVE YOU EVER HEARD HIM TRY TO SING? DO NOT WANT. Miley has a hand in the writing of her own songs and is gaining ever-increasing creative control. I still say we won't get a full appreciation for her talent until she's 18 and tells Disney she's walking away from them.)

The point here is? Alanis rules and some people just flat out suck.

I love Amy Lee from Evanescence. She has really really good vocals, and her song lyrics are very powerful and meaningful.

At the moment I'm totally into Lykke Li.

People I know who should have recording contracts? Liz Ross and Kristen Maxfield (well when Kmax was doing Jazz, I'm not sure how I feel about her country stuff).

In terms of famous people its REALLY hard for me to pick. It all depends on what I'm listening to, sometimes I go for Sarah McLaughlan, sometimes I go for Fiona Apple. Sometimes I'm like "I need something less refined" and then I end up with Nina or with Missy. Rock? That chick from Fly Leaf or Amy Lee... Or Shirly Manson... mmmmm... Shirly Manson....

Maria Brink from In This Moment! Love that band and love her! I mean SHIT, she toured with Ozzy and Rob Zombie! Pretty friggin awesome if you ask me. ALSO! I don't care what anyone says, I like her little dresses she wears too, if I wasn't a chunky monkey I would TOTALLY wear something similar :D Plus she's got a nice rack!
