We've touched on this idea in the QOTD about whether everything happens for a reason. Do you believe life in general has a purpose? Does your life have a purpose? Why or why not?
From a biological point of view, the purpose to life is to reproduce.
But people tend to set goals for themselves and make their own (other) purposes to strive to. I'm not a goal setting type person, so my life doesn't have a purpose. All I do is exist.
I don't think that one has a purpose in their lives, as in that it was meant to be. I think you should decide for yourself what your purpose is; whether that's becoming the next president of the States, getting a book published or just getting by, have lived life to your fullest, and to be able to look back with pride on the things you've done and be proud of the person you've become.
Life is what you make out of it.
For the afterlife stuff; I want to believe there is an afterlife, I hope there is one, but somewhere I have the feeling that afterlife - or heaven, or whatever you want to call it - is just clamping on to life. Denying that one day it'll all be over and you're just not there anymore. I think too that 'afterlife' has to do with the arrogance of human beings; we're way too clever, interesting and inventive beings to just be like any other organism of this world. There has to be something more to our existance...
life only lasts so long. after you die, it's all over.
so i think the purpose of life is to teach,
younger generations useful life lessons.
so their own life is fullfilling and meaningful.
yeah duhh.. drink booze and get laid bitches. lol just joshing. idk since everyone dies...it seems there woludnt be a purpose... but i like life its great.
Being more into the science side of things, I believe in Evolution over 'God created us and everything else in the universe'. Having said that, I believe that the only purpose to life is the purpose that we give ourselves and not the purpose that a God no one has ever seen gives us.
My purpose in life is to be the best person that I can possibly be - no one gave me that purpose but myself. (Does that sound arrogant? :/ )

I think we should decide for ourselves what our purpose is, instead of deciding that there is no purpose to life. Cause if you put it that way, you might just sit down and wait to die.
