QOTD: Should homosexuality be banned in the military?

It's arguin' time!

In the United States, we currently have a "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy regarding homosexuals in our military. It's against policy to either come out as gay or ask someone else if they're gay. A service member can be ejected if it's discovered they are a homosexual. Do you think this is fair? Should the policy remain in place or is this institutionalized discrimination?

I think it's a load of BULLSHIT! Ya hear?

Being a solider shouldn't be based on your sexuality. It should be based on your skills, your talent and your dedication to your country.

I want you to look up something for me.

Umm.. I think the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" thing should stay, because there are still a lot of homophobes in the world, and if someone reveals that they're gay, it may cause a lot of problems. But I don't think that right after it is revealed that someone is gay, they should be ejected. Maybe only if it causes problems between some people.
Sucks that there still are homophobes that homosexual people can't even show who they are, but thats how the world is at the moment.

i think we should ban all the homophobes from the military. gay people should be allowed to fight for this country! if you aren't tolerant, maybe you're the one who shouldn't be in the military.

Oh yeah, forgot to say. If theres problems because of homophobes, the homophobe should be ejected, not the gay.

It shouldn't be banned.

In the UK the quickest way out of the army used to declaring to be gay, but they changed is a few years back.

I guess that would be another way out.

It definately shouldn't be banned! Homophobia isn't right. No one should care what goes on in their "workmates" personal life. It's their choice! Everyone in the military is there for basically the same reason. They just need to pay attention to what they're there to do.

Don't Ask, Dont Tell? I cant believe there's jackass'es like that to make rules like that! I mean, geez, if someone asks you there's always the denying thing. Isn't it better to be asked straight than being thought behind your back. Then again, I'm not gay and haven't been in a military.
