QOTD: What are you doing for Thanksgiving?

PanasonicYouth: 11/21/2007 9:01 AM
Tomorrow, here in the US, is the day we celebrate how we had a brief respite from raping and pillaging the Native Americans land. Or something like that. This means we engorge ourselves on unnatural amounts of food: turkey, mashed potatoes (!!!!!), yams, stuffing, and the illustrious pumpkin pie.

So what do you and your family do for Thanksgiving? What are you doing this year? If you don't celebrate Thanksgiving, what are holiday dinners like in your household?

Mmm, pumpkin pie.... My mom and I are going to go to her cousin's house and eat with that side of the family, which is always fun, because they're more "colorful" than my aunts and uncles. And I'm not being sarcastic, it really is fun!

Sleeping in, getting up late. Making phone calls to relatives and friends.

Celebrating quietly, reflecting a bit on all there is to be thankful for. Then eating, mostly stuffing, some turkey, vegies and of course pumpkin pie. Then crashing with a full stomach.

Ooo I'm going to my cousins' house which is awesome because they have every video game known to man. And they own. And Thanksgiving is the only time of year I eat meat because obviously what is Turkey Day with no turkey?? And I make pumpkin pie and it's delicious; it's the canned stuff! Yay!Yup...I'm looking forward to it...

I really don't like Thanksgiving. Last year, I enjoyed it because my parents had to work, and I got to hang out with friends that didn't celebrate either. I'm vegetarian, so there's nothing that I really eat.

And I don't need a holiday to state what I'm thankful for--everyone should express what they're thankful for every day of the year. Not just one day in November.

But this year, we're celebrating it as our Christmas since my mom will most likely be working that holiday.
So my plans are to a wake up at noon to my dad screaming at the football on TV. Then get yelled at by my mom to get out of the kitchen. Then during dinner, listen to my sister go on about how she'd be thankful for a new car, if she had one. Oh, and my parents argue about something. And my sister and her boyfriend argue about something. All while I'm sitting there waiting for the dinner to be over, so I can raid the fridge for some vegetarian friendly food. :)

this year, i'm sleeping through it. i just got a really nasty virus and the doctor told me to get lots of rest for the next few days. perfect excuse to get away from my 10 year old cousin, last time i saw her, she walks into my room, looks around, looks at me and says "do you have anything that i can keep?" i was like "excuse me?!" shes such a brat.
sorry i got off topic, but i'll be sleeping for thanksgiving, that and taking tons of advil.
