I've been sitting on this one because I wasn't sure if I should even use it; but it's such a fascinating subject and you guys have dealt with mature subjects over and over again. SO PLEASE DON'T ACT LIKE YOU'RE 8 AND DON'T BE A DOUCHENOZZLE.

Do you think prostitution should be legalized? As it is, is it a crime without any victims?

I think it should.

Some countries in Europe have & it works well.

I usually like waiting for more people to respond... so I have something to go off of. but I'll just say I definately dont think it should be legalized. I'd say the prostitute themself is a victim of his/her own acts. It makes me really sick to imagine myself in that situation and what it does to people mentally and how it affects their life in the future.

Should everyone have a right to do as they wish with their OWN body as long as its not harming another person? yes... but for some reason this just seems entirely different to me. can you imagine the world if prositution is legalized? Anyone can pay someone to have sex with them whenever they wish. Relationships would probably be ruined and less and less people would take the act of sex seriously anymore.

When prostitution is legalised the Government of the country is obligated to set regulations, like any business. I think the people would be better protected, because the prostitutes wouldn’t just be walking the streets, they would be only in brothels.

If it’s like a business they would get regular screenings for SDTs, & drugs, they would also pay taxes. No matter what there will always be prostitutes, so why not make it legal.

I think it should be legalized and taxed through the fucking roof.

There's a reason it's called the world's oldest profession. Prostitution is something that is always going to happen, in every society, at some level. If you legalize it, you can ensure that the prostitutes are working for decent wages, aren't being beaten by their pimps and have medical coverage for the sake of their safety as well as their Johns'.

I totally agree with you.

Make them pay taxes. :)

In Amsterdam prostitution is legal, but you have to register for a window in their infamous "red district" and with the money they make they have to pay tax.
It works really really well over there. And I think it would work everywhere else too.

But if we can't even regulate prostitution in a cut and dry 'you are a prositute you go to jail (or get a fine... whatever happens)' way then what would change if it was legal. I'm sure they would still walk the streets and be "beaten by their pimps" if it was a tax paying business or not. I think the shadiness will always be there.

but because I do like considering other points of view, I can understand where your coming from. If it's going to happen, why not put in as much protection by the government and make them pay taxes like the rest of us working normal day jobs. Looking at it like that I can agree with you. Looking at it as knowing someone in my family who was a prostitute as a teen and is really fucked up now as an adult... I don't want that kind of thing becoming more popular and easily accessed.

It's legal in Germany if they do their business in the red-light district. They must have an insurence and pay tax.
If they must register it's much easier to controll the prostitutes.

Well yeah, it's a choice, people should be allowed to choose.

Well, if it becomes a government regulated industry, they won't have to "walk the streets." Brothels would be legal, so men and women could easily just go to the prostitute, instead of the other way around.

i really don't think it should be legalized.
you're selling your body.
that's not respectful, at all.
same with stripping.
i'm not too sure about playboy.
because you are basically still selling your body
but in maybe a different, better? [not the word i want to use] way?
hm i don't know.
but yeah, prostitution shouldn't be legalized.

but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do
in order to live in this crazy world.
so if you have to be a prostitute, then do it, and good luck!
