“I’m telling you everyone should have a chance to go, it’s amazing. I swear I’m gonna move there once I’m finished with school.” He said as he took a glance at us. His eyes landed right on me. And I stood there frozen.

“Josh, did you go to the caves?” one of them asked, he smiled slightly at me and looked back at the girl who was next to him. He continued to talk.

He had soft brown eyes, ones that one would wish to look into everyday. He had a muscular built, and a sweet smile. His lip piercing shined as the light of the fire reflected on it. His hair was brown, like his eyes, and it looked so soft. I had the sudden urge to go up to him and run my fingers in his hair.

He had a grey cardigan and underneath a white V-neck shirt with “New Zealand” written on the top left corner. I couldn’t stop staring at his lips as he spoke. He seemed arrogant, and a know-it-all. I guess that’s why everyone looked up to him. He was the “jock” of MTSU. But for some reason, something about him attracted me. I hadn’t felt like this in so long. Not even with Ben.

Everyone started to leave now that Kate and I arrived, except for the Blondie that kept asking the questions. He smiled at Kate, “Katie” he hugged her tightly, and I felt a sudden tinge of jealousy towards her.

“This is Hayley, my new roommate” he eyed me from head to toe.
“Hey Red, welcome to MTSU. Hope Katie is treating you right” he grinned. Red? Right, the hair…

“She’s been awfully helpful,” I said with a smile towards Kate. She grinned and held her arm around his waist. Was she hinting something? Damn…

“I’ve known Josh for years, we’ve been neighbors since grade 2” She looked up at him as he smiled at her. “Yep, I still remember when my little sister told me the news that the neighbors had an annoying little girl” she laughed loudly. “I was the annoying one? I do remember you being the one who always came over to ask if I could come outside to play” she elbowed him. He didn’t even move, I guess he had abs then. I couldn’t stop thinking of him, and his body. And eyes. And lips…

We stood there talking about where I use to live and my experiences in New York. Which weren’t many. Kate went off to say “bye” to Meghan and left Josh and I alone. He shyly looked at me, “Ready for your first day of class?” he asked. I smirked, “I’m so ready” I answered sarcastically. He laughed, a shy one. He seemed to blush slightly. Kate was walking towards us… “So, I hope to see you around? Maybe we can get a coffee or something,” he said, scratching the back of his head. “Yeah, for sure” I answered, holding down my excitement. Kate walked to my side looking at Josh with a look that made him blush. “Alright, I’ll see you guys around” He said to both of us.

“I bet we will” Kate laughed while pulling me away from him.

“Josh seemed to like you” Kate said, as we walked through the hallways of our dorm. I laughed slightly, “He seems really nice” She smiled, “He’s one of the sweetest guys I know. Unfortunately, he’s changed throughout Middle school and now.” She unlocked our door, and smiled, “But you seem cool enough for him, so FYI I approve” Oh great, she noticed. I laughed in response, as I didn’t have any words to reply.

Class wasn’t too stressful; Professor Stanley was a unique man. He was full of sarcasm, and a military type attitude. He reminded me of my Uncle Jeffrey.

I walked towards the Café, since I had an hour to kill. The sun shined strongly today, I could feel a drop of sweat slowly form in the back of my neck.

Middle Ten Café. The sign was a tacky one but the strong fragrance of coffee made my mouth water. Inside, there was air-conditioning (thank God) and nice acoustic music softly played as background music. The place was empty, except for the right side of the small shop. There sat a man he had to be a Professor, he looked way too old to be here. I walked down to the left side to the corner booths. I grabbed my laptop from my bag, and waited for it to turn on.

I looked around the coffee shop; they had canvases of Johnny Cash, Elvis and Bob Dylan. It looked quite nice for a café, it seemed like a good hangout place for myself.

“Hey, Shorty” A familiar voice said from across the Café. There stood the guy from yesterday, Jeremy. “Oh hey” I said, a smile on my face. He seemed like someone I could definitely hang out with. He wore a green uniform with the Café’s logo embroiled on it and matching green plugs. “Mind if I sit? I’m on my break” He sat down before I could even answer, his wrap looked delicious. “Want one? I get them for free, since I make them and all…” I shook my head. “No thanks, I’m not hungry. But thanks” He shrugged, and bit into his wrap.

“So, how has your day been going?” He asked, with a sincere interested look. “Okay, I guess. I have to get use to all of this.” I half smiled.

“Well, it’s your first day. You’ll find it easier in a few days”
“I hope so, I already have a stack of homework to do.”

“And that is why I refuse to go here” He grinned, I laughed and shook my head.

“Well, I should get back to work. Or Dave’s going to kick my ass. I’ll see you around?” He asked, a hopeful tone on his voice. “Yeah, for sure” I smiled. He winked and walked back to the counter. I closed my laptop ignoring the 20 emails I had.

I looked outside and caught someone’s eyes. It was Josh. He was sitting next to a tree, his head rested on it, and I could see he had earphones on. He quickly looked back to his friends. But I could see his quick glances at me.
