The Evil Within Chapter 7 photo 1

Hey guys sorry for the long wait for this chapter I was actually going to update it yesterday but I didn't have enough time to. This chapter is quite long too sorry about that. This chapter is dedicated to Becca aka 'Things Are Looking Up' For her terrible loss. I hope she's ok :) Remember to buzz, comment and enjoy guysss ;)

Zac’s Pov: “Josh dude where were you last night? I had something important to tell you,” I say as Josh pushes open the glass door and scans the room.

“Josh? Hello!” I click my fingers in front of his eyes, snapping him out of his little room scanning mission.

“Uh what Zac?” He asks not bothering to look at me.

“Dude are you looking for someon-”

“What? No! Why would I be looking for someone” He quickly interrupts. I eye him suspiciously, not fully believing him.

“What did you want to talk about Zac?” He asked quickly trying to change the subject.

“There’s another werewolf in town”

He froze “Wha-what? Oh shit they must be in a pack or something” He panicked running a hand through his tangled hair. “There not after us are they?”

“I don’t think so. The werewolf chick is kind of hot though” I chuckled.

Josh shot me a death glare. “Zac she could try and kill you. Don’t you dare go near her just keep your distance”

“I never thought that there could be so many supernatural beings in one small town. I wonder how long the werewolf’s have been here for?” I say avoiding the demand of not going near her.

“Zac-“ He was just about to say something when I spotted Michael and Emily standing with a group of friends by a row of lockers by the front door.

“Let’s go say hello” I teased and jogged over to their group.

I heard Josh’s loud calls for me to stop but I wasn’t in the mood for listening to him. He couldn’t even explain to me where he was last night.

“Hey man!” I smiled cheerfully to Michael and shook his hand. He gave me a small smile back and patted my shoulder. I could see Emily eviling me from the side. I chose to ignore it.

“Guys you should have seen this dude in football. He is like a legend” Michael says pointing to me.

He and his friends then start discussing stuff about football while Emily and I stand there awkwardly, watching the conversation unfold. I figured that now Michael is distracted I could maybe have a word with Emily. I scratch my head and turn to face Emily. She stares at me with a cold expression plastered onto her face.

“Uh hey” I greeted happily like we had been friends since forever. Her cold expression turned sour as she eyed me up and down.

“How’s it going?”

“Fuck off” She replied. Wow somebody’s on their period. Wait can werewolf’s even get periods?

I blinked breaking my little daydream to catch her walking away causally like we had never even spoken to each other. I grunted and decided to follow her, ignoring the weird looks from Michael and his friends. I ran up beside her and walked with her. She ignored me completely like I was never there and stopped outside a science class. She opened the door and walked in not bothering to close it behind her. I followed her inside and closed the door gently behind me. She was standing behind a desk at the back of the classroom with a knife in her hand.

“Hey” I say ignoring the knife in her hand.

“What do you want?” She asks not taking her eyes off mine. I approach her slowly and she raises the knife.

“Stay back” She warns. Wow somebody has trust issues. I raise my hands in defense.

“It’s ok I’m not going to harm you I just want peace that’s all”

“Why? So you can go on a killing spree and I can’t stop you because we are at peace?” Ok that didn’t really make sense in my mind. But I got the point.

“No seriously I’m not going to hurt anybody. Trust me”

“Pfft like I’m going to trust a vampire” She scoffed lowering the knife slightly. Like I said before, trust issues.

“I know about the whole war thingy between our species but-“

“But what?” She hissed cutting me off “I want nothing to do with your kind. Just leave this town alone.” Ouch that hurt. I decided to ignore it though.

“Look” I say approaching the desk she was behind. She glanced at me with fearful eyes. I was really getting tired of this chick thinking I was a threat.

“I’m not going to fucking hurt you or anyone so just stop with this bullshit.” I spat. That did it for her. She jumped over the desk and stabbed the knife into my heart.

I gasped in pain as the blood started seeping through my shirt. She quickly snatched her bag from the floor and ran out of the classroom, slamming the door shut. I groaned in pain as I ripped the knife out of my bleeding heart. It will heal up. Thankfully it wasn’t wood or else that would be the end of me. I clambered off the floor and tucked the knife into my back pocket. Either this chick doesn’t like making peace or she’s just on her period.

Either way, I’m not finished with her yet.

Hayley's Pov: I awoke to the sound of my alarm clock ringing in my ear. I groaned and rolled onto my side, switching it off. Yawning quietly I ran a hand through my tangled hair as I kicked the blankets off my legs. I got dressed into a pair of black mini shorts a pair of red converses and a yellow singlet then I quickly ran down the stairs. The smell of eggs bacon and freshly made toast filled my nostrils as soon as my foot hit the bottom step. My Dad was in the kitchen cooking breakfast. He glanced up at me and gave me a small smile.

"Hayley, how are things?” He greeted, turning off the stove as I entered the kitchen.

"Fine." I murmured taking the plate from him. I swiped a piece of toast from the plate on the table and chewed on it hungrily.

"Jeremy showed me the paper yesterday. There was a body drained of blood. What do you think?”

I shrugged and continued to eat my food not really caring because I was starving. I knew my dad would want me to check out this case anyways.

"Hayley I want you to be careful when you hunt this thing” He says, giving me a concerned look.

"Oh no not this again" I groaned rolling my eyes. “Why can’t you hunt it this time?”

"Because Jimmy found a lead the other day and asked me to help. I will be out of town for a few weeks.”

I sighed “Why does Jimmy need you all the time? Can’t he hunt on his own?”

He took a deep breath “Hayley you know I don’t like to leave you alone especially when there’s a vamp running around this town. Trust me I don’t”

“Then why do you?” I cut in swallowing a lump of egg. He scratched his head awkwardly. That’s how you know my dad is going to say something he knows he might regret.

“Hayley, he’s my only friend. My best friend. If he dies on a hunt that I could have helped him out on then that guilt would haunt me forever.”

“But if I died on a hunt you wouldn’t care.” I mumbled pushing my plate away as an indication that I was finished eating. He frowned and sat beside me.

“How could you think like that? You know I love you Hayles” He whispered, hurt was clear in his tone but I didn’t actually care.

“So you would leave your only daughter to hunt a vamp but as soon as your friend goes on a hunt you drop everything. Wow that proves how much you love me dad” The last part I muttered sarcastically.

“Hayley I-“

“Save it” I spat angrily. I stood up from my seat and grabbed my bag off the floor.

“See you whenever I guess” I say as I opened the front door and ran out onto the porch. I could hear him calling my name repetitively but I ignored him.

I ran down the porch steps and down the pathway. I ran all the way to the gates of the school without stopping once. I continued to run through the hallways and classroom’s, dodging past kids trying to get to their lockers. I continued to run until I reached the end of the field. I dropped my backpack onto the grass and lent on the familiar fence for support. I could feel hot tears streaming down my face as I tried to catch my breath. My dad is leaving again. I just wish he would stay for longer than a week and pay more attention to me. The only conversations we have are about what to do when he leaves or if there’s another hunt. I just want things to be like old times when my mother was alive. I just wish my mother was here.

"Hey are you ok there?" A voice asked, placing their hand on my shaking shoulder.

"Go away." I sobbed my voice cracking. Still the person didn't leave. In fact they did the opposite. They stood in front of me and lifted up my chin.

It was Jacob.

I froze letting the last of my tears fall down my red cheeks. For once he didn't have a cocky smirk plastered on his face. His expression was hard but his eyes gave him away. They showed remorse.

"What happened?" He asked softly.

He kept his gaze on mine. I could feel my stomach fluttering as he looked at me. I scrambled to my feet and stumbled away from him.

"Nothing" I whispered hoarsely, wiping the tears from my eyes.

“Hayley everybody has a reason when they cry”

“Just leave me alone please”

“I’m just trying to help” He assured rubbing my arm comfortably. I fought the urge to fall into his arms. I just wanted so badly for someone to hold me right now.

“I have to go” I say quickly, pulling away from him as I grabbed my backpack.

I could feel him watching me as I slung my bag over my shoulder and jogged away from him. I’m just hoping that he won’t tell anyone about my breakdown, the last thing I need is the whole school knowing. I jogged to the doors and pushed them open hoping that I can get to the bathroom and clean myself up before anybody I know sees me. I slid around a corner and made my way through the halls of people. I stopped immediately as I made eye contact with Josh’s brown ones. He was standing literally right in front of me. Wow nice dodging skills Hayley. I wasn’t mad at him I was just trying to get some distance from him to get over these slowly erupting feelings for him. Looks like that plan will have to wait.

"Hayley" He whispered, looking over me. "Have you been crying?" I shrugged in response.

"Hayley I know that Jacob told you about Jenna, but just let me explain” He begged, grabbing my hands but I pulled them away.

"You have one minute."

"I had a girlfriend and her name was Jenna. We were in love and one day an accident happened. She died and I haven’t really liked anyone in that since now.”

I swear my heart just stopped. Was he admitting that he liked me?

"Josh what do you mean?" I asked. I wanted to make sure that he was saying what I am hoping for him to say.

"I like you a lot Hayley and I don't know what Jacob has put in your head about Jenna but that was the past, and I'm beyond ready to move on" He smiled taking my hand in his. I still couldn't get over what Jacob had said though. Josh frowned when I didn't respond.

"Jacob said that you weren’t over her. He said something about a rebound girl" I gulped as his expression changed completely.

"Jacob likes to play with people’s minds. I wanted you to stay away from him because I knew that he would try to turn you against me."

"Why is he like that Josh? Why does he do that to you?"

"Because Jacob likes tormenting me, that's just the way it's always been."

"And you let him get away with it?" I asked in disbelief.

He looked at me then at the ground. "I'd rather him torment me then someone else."

"So why did he come here?” I asked completely confused.

He shook his head. "I don't know what he's here for."

I can't believe I fell for Jacobs lie about Josh wanting a rebound girl. He was only doing that to hurt Josh, but it hurt me too. Jacob was the bad guy and I fell for his tricks. But I still couldn't shake what had happened earlier out of my head when he found me crying. He showed sympathy, it seemed like he really cared.

"The thing with Jenna was a long time ago. It's in the past. I should have told you about her earlier. I don't expect you to trust me, I just want you to give me a chance. I really like you and I would like to see where this goes." His voice was honest and pure. I knew he wasn't lying.

"I would like that too." I giggled, feeling the butterflies coming back.

He smiled brightly and hugged me before lacing our fingers together as we walked in a pair down the hall.

For the first time in a long time, I felt whole.
