Me: An Introduction, A Mixtape
The International Mixtape Group had a scheme going where two people had to write one another a mxtape with the theme 'Me: An Introduction'. Several months later, I have finally gotten around to making a playlist for my dear Mr Alexher123. Not only this, but I have also gotten around to uploading the whole mixtape onto the interwebz. It's not a definitive statement on my musical taste, but I think it says a bit about who I am.
I now share this gloriousness with you!
1. Hyperballad- Big Heavy Stuff.
This is a fantastic cover of the Bjork song. It's the song I turn to when I'm depressed, the raw acoustic edge to this resonating somewhere in my heart.
2. Hype (V.2.)- The Hampdens
This is a song I have fallen in love with over time. I bought it on iTunes, which means I cant share it, so I have a ripped copy of 'The Hype" from their Myspace, which is a slightly different mix of the song. V.2 is much better, but I can not find it anywhere. (If you can locate/buy v.2 srsly, DO IT).
3. Love- Smashing Pumpkins
This song is my heroin. When I first heard it, I absolutely hated it. But it has this addictive quality to it- you have to listen to it one more time.This repulsion and addiction continues until you fall in love.
4.Forever Gone, Forever You- Evanesence
On second thought, I should have added a different one of their songs, but oh well. Amy Lee's voice is beautiful, and I like the synth stuff in their early demo stuff.
5. Stockholm Syndrome- Blink 182
This song speaks to me emotionally in a way I would have hardly thought Blink capable of. I will admit, its a crappy song in the whole scheme of music. But its firmly engrained itself in who I am, its a song that I was able to curl up within and have a few minutes of sanity listening to.
6.Hearts Burst Into Fire- Bullet for my Valentine
When I fall in love, this is how I want it to be. Power Metal included.
7. Hail Destroyer- Cancer Bats
I feel 98.4534264% more badass than I really am when I listen to this song. TRUFAX. If this song is too hardcore for you, it's time to man up. If its not hardcore enough, I salute you.
8. Train In Vain- The Clash
The first evar Clash song I ever heard. The rest, as they say, is history.
9.Bordering On Ordinary- The Dear & Departed
This is another song I did not immediately like, but felt mysteriously drawn to. There is a suss key change mid way through, and I'm not sure it really works, but ok, whatever. I sometimes feel like I border on ordinary, just like I border on whether I like this song. It's a pretty good analogy really.
10. Girl Anachronism- The Dresden Dolls
This song is for those days when life is a glorious mess.
11. You Want Romance?- Funeral For A Friend
This is one of my favourite songs, (hey some of you might have guessed, y/fy?). Again, thanks to those iTunes peeps and their encryption shite I can't share it either. Its here on iMeem if you want to listen though.
12.Why Do You Love Me- Garbage
I can't understand what would possess any man into the madness that would be falling in love with me. Also, Shirley Manson is awesome. 'nuff said.
13. Where the City Meets the Sea- The Getaway Plan
This song fills me with hope. Also the lead singer is very pretty, although his mouth is disproportionately large. I suspect this contributes to his awesome voice.
14.Miss Take- The HorrorPops
I'm a girl, I make mistakes, and thats ok.
15. Lady Madeline In Her Coffin- I Am Ghost
This song is so dodgy in terms of recording quality, but it has a really interesting dynamic to it. You'll see what I mean.
16. Imagine- John Lennon
Because I'm lame and I believe in world peace? This song is classic, timeless, genius.
17. The Shake- Kisschasy
This song evokes all sorts of crazy emotions in me, especially the crescendo towards the end. Ghostly and passionate. It's a good combination.
18. Wake Up- The Living End
Rockabilly with a political edge, it works. One of their best songs.
19. Spike- The Network
This song gives me the lulz, you should watch the video clip for it on Youtube. Funniest thing ever.

20. Anasasis (Xenophontis)- Parkway Drive
Parkway Drive is one of those bands that takes a bit of effort to get into, but its worth it. Really. I don't even hear the screaming any more haha. Parkway Drive are huge on the Aussie hardcore scene, and I have awesome memories seeing them live, such as breaking a friend of mine's tooth in the moshpit. ;-0 I am teh badass.
21. Avarice- Disturbed
I really like this song. It gives me pleasing memories of a shirtless Stuart Townsend in Queen of the Damned. It sort of has this hypnotic feel to it.
22. Seein' Diamonds- Hot Water Music
A nice way to end the Mix. Everytime I hear it, my heart has this huge pang of emotion. It's emotive and raw and everything music should be.
