Miley Cyrus Live Tour in Milwaukee 10/10/09

hrdamas Oct 11, 2009

I couldn't believe it when I opened my e-mail and saw that I had won tickets to the Miley Cyrus show in Milwaukee. I had really wanted to see the show, but being a broke college student had no way to pay for tickets so I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best when entering this contest. To my surprise, I won and now I am here writing this for you all.

When arriving to the concert with my roommate we were ecstatic to even be able to have the opportunity to go to the concert, let alone have such amazing seats! Although some 20 year olds might act too cool to attend a Miley Cyrus concert, we were right there screaming along side the 5 little girls sitting next to us.

We got to our seats in the middle of Metro Stations set and they were rocking the stage. I only knew their two most popular songs, "Seventeen Forever" and "Shake It" but I was really surprised at how much I really liked all of their other songs as well. In fact, after writing this I am going to go and download "Kelsey" and "Japanese Girl", which were two of their other songs they performed last night. Download and listen, you won't be let down!

After Metro Station was done performing they began setting up the stage for Mileys performance. On all of the big screens above the stage they had this thing set up where you could text in messages for everyone to read. I thought that was really cool to see how excited everyone else was for the show. When the stage was finished the screens began to read things like "Are you ready? Miley can hear you! Make some noise", and the Bradley Center just went crazy. The final message on the screen read "Here we go..." and smoke started to fill the stage along with a big ice sculpture (obviously not real ice) rising from the middle of the stage. This is what Miley broke out of for her beginning song of "Breakout", it was amazing. The energy was out of control and Miley sounded awesome, which I was really surprised of because she just got over being sick and I believe Milwaukee was only her 2nd or 3rd show back.

Her first few songs of the concert were Breakout, Start All Over, Kicking and Screaming and 7 things. I really liked how she combined all of her different sounds, with having her older songs mixed in with her new song "Kicking and Screaming". Out of all of her beginning songs I think I liked Kicking and Screaming the most because it's so different from anything she has done thus far in her career.

After 7 things Miley went backstage for her first costume change. When she came back out she was wearing a flowy silver dress and sang "Bottom of the Ocean", which has always been one of my favorite songs by her. At the end of the song she stood with her arms open and fell backwards into the pit of the stage, leaving only the big screens showing what looked to be Miley in her dress floating in the ocean. It was a really cool way to end the song and to give her a chance to change outfits.

Next up was Fly on the Wall, which was amazing as well. Miley comes out on a fly on wheels (I just took about 5 minutes trying to figure out what else to call it, but that's all I got). They drive it up to the front of the stage and toward the end of the song they harness Miley up and she flies through the air. That song was one of my favorite performances of the night because there were so many different things going on onstage at once, it was really well put together.

Right after "Fly on the Wall" was finished Miley and her dancers did a short dance to "Thriller" which was a really cool tribute to Michael. Then went into Hoedown Throwdown, which was so cute because all of the little girls in the audience were trying so hard to do the dance. Or maybe that was just me? Just kidding. After throwing it down Miley went backstage for yet another wardrobe change..

The next 20 minutes were probably my favorite part of the show because she performed some of her slower songs and her voice sounded incredible. She began with "These Four Walls" and then showed her trailer for her upcoming movie "The Last Song". I had just finished reading the book (which is by far one of the best books I have ever read) so I was really excited to see the trailer. Miley then performed "When I Look at You" and "Obsessed". These are two of my favorite songs by her right now because it is more of a mature sound for her and they are just amazing songs in general.

And another wardrobe change. The next few songs Miley performed were Let's Get Crazy, GNO and I Love Rock n Roll. For "I Love Rock n Roll" Miley rode a motorcycle in the air. Yes, in the air. I'm sure that part was really cool for people who were sitting further back because it gave them a chance to see her perform a little bit closer to them. It was also a nice touch to the show because it wasn't one of her songs.

After Miley performed Party in the USA, she brought Trace (her older brother, aka band member of Metro Station) out to perform a song they wrote together called "Hovering". It was really exciting because it was the first time they had ever performed it together and they did a really really good job. It's a totally different sound for Miley and it's exciting that she gets to share that with her older brother, it will be a hit for both Miley and Metro Station fans.

After that performance Miley sang "Simple Song" and said goodbye to us all, which we know is just code for.. you guessed it... encore and new outfit time. When she came back out she performed "See You Again" and The Climb", which I thought were two really good choices for the encore because they are two of her most popular songs.

All in all, the Miley Cyrus Wonder World tour is above and beyond anything I expected it to be. She does just a little bit of everything in the show and it is totally worth a large sum of money to buy tickets and see the show. I am so happy I got the chance to see her live in the concert and I can't thank Buzznet enough for it! If you are reading this and haven't yet entered to win tickets to a show, do it right now! Seriously. Thank you buzznet, it was a night I will never forget!!!
