Some places seem to have a life of their own, taking on an eerie aura that gives your spine tingles for no discernible reason. Or, perhaps, you know the history of the place and that's why your heart goes thump thump beneath your breast. So, I ask, where is the creepiest locale you've ever been, and what's the story?

For me, the creepiest place that comes to mind is an old abandoned insane asylum in the hills of Sylmar, CA (if you're near the area). I'd just joined a band and we decided to take some group photos there 'cause it looked cool. The place was trashed, tagged up, and worst of all it was dark. Just to add more anxiety, we were obviously trespassing and we'd already almost been caught climbing through the fence. But while we were inside I kept getting the chills. In one room, the old dining room, we found a tray that had been knocked over that had old blood samples on slides-- some parts still red, most thick with green mold. Everyone else decided to venture into the basement, but I was too creeped out by this place with its long foreboding halls and lack of light to go further in. Lame, I know.

Wow. That's freakin' creepy!
I cant exactly remember all the places Ive been but, one time I went to the Old Boggil Road Gaol in Brisbane, Australia.
I went in broad daylight but we walked down the place where they kept the criminals. It was grey, dark and lonely.
I also went to the area that they kept the crazy people in. They carved things on the walls and floors that were VERY controversial. What they said gave me shivers.
They said things about racism, rape, murder, incest.
It was all bizzare.

There's a cemetary in my city called La Belle Cemetary (yes, The Beautiful Cemetary). It's supposedly one of the most haunted cemetaries in America. I went a few hours north of where I live and I was talking to some people in a park, and when they found out that I was from Oconomowoc, they whipped out their cell phones and showed me pictures of a white glow surrounding a tree, despite the fact that it was really dark out.
There's one statue that supposedly cries blood or something. My friends and I are normally scared to death to touch it (as are most people in the city), but I did one day, and I felt like I was being electrocuted.
And once, we were standing next to the mausoleum at the top of the hill, and my friends and I were all staring at the exact same spot- and only two of us saw this small black figure run across the road. The other two didn't.
