Chapter 4: Guitar Hero 2 Battle and A Visit from a Friend Week 2 Sat 8:30 As usual, in the morning my alarm in my cell phone would ring. I got out of bed brushed my teeth, washed my face, combed my hair, etc. After I was done I went downstairs to the kitchen and made two waffles, made hot chocolate and placed it in a thermos, and headed out the door. I then walked over to my car pulled out of the garage over to the driveway, I pressed a button in my remote control so that the garage door closed and the alarm in my house switched on. Then I pulled out onto the street and drove off. It was a twenty minute drive until I arrived at the studio. I got out of the car taking my waffle with me, I at one of them while I was driving, and my thermos which was now half filled with hot chocolate, and closed the car door locking it. Then I walked to the studio from the parking lot and went over to the recording room. When I opened the door I saw Shads and the others waiting in their seats. ``Hey guys! I greeted happily. Everyone responded back with a 'hey!' or a 'hi!' '`Waffles huh? Asked M. Shadows as he raised one of his eyebrows. He was wearing a plain white t-shirt, navy colored jeans, and black Vans. "Yeah, this is my breakfast. Did Natalie come yet?'' ``No, not yet.'' Said Zacky as he was tuning his guitar. He was wearing a Misfits sleeveless shirt, black colored jeans, and his Velcro shoes. ``Hmm… I'll call her to see what's up.'' Suddenly my phone rang, I looked at the screen on my phone to see Natalie's name on it. ``Speak of the angle.'' ``Isn't it supposed to be devil?'' asked Gates as he took off his fedora hat. I just shrugged. Then Natalie answered the phone. ``Hey Jackie! Are you at the recording room?'' asked Natalie. ``Yeah. Where are you?'' ``Stuck in traffic… I'll be there in around 45 minutes or so.'' ``Okay . We'll wait for you at your office, and then when you get here we could start practicing.'' I paused, ``And while we are in your office we could ruin everything in your office.'' ``No!'' Matt and the others were either smiling or chuckling since they found our little argument amusing. ``Geez, just kidding.'' I responded. ``Okay see you later.'' ``Later.'' I closed my cell phone and put it in my pocket. ``We could just practice while we wait for Natalie to get here.'' said Gates. ``Or… We could play video games while we wait, if it's possible.'' said Johnny. ``Is it okay if the video game is Guitar Hero 2?'' I asked. ``Sure'' said Gates, ``I'll own you all!!!'' everyone laughed. Duh, of course he would! He's like the best guitarist around! I led everyone out of the recording to Natalie's office. I opened the cabinet underneath the T.V. pulled out two guitar controllers and handed one to Gates and the other on to Zacky. Then pressed the power button on the Playstation2 and turned on the T.V. ``Let's see who would win, Zacky or Gates?'' I challenged. ``Me!'' yelled Zacky. ``Hey, I said I'll own everyone.'' said Gates. -- After one round and one rematch Gates was permanently declared the winner. ``You see I told you I own.'' said Gates. ``Yeah, but you didn't own everyone.'' argued Zacky. ``Hey you know what? Let's let Jackie go against Shads.'' said Rev. I shook my head from side to side. ``Come on just once Jackie, please? begged Johnny. ``I warned you. Don't blame me afterwards.'' I took the guitar and chose the song Misirlou. ``Shads you choose the difficulty.'' Shads chose Expert. ``Expert?'' I questioned. ``I play this game in Expert all the time.'' And now we were off the first set of notes came in and the battle began. The results? Eh, heh, heh. Oh I warned them alright. ``I win!'' I cheered. ``I'll go against you next.'' said Rev. -- After going against Rev, Johnny, and Zacky I was so far declared undefeated. ``Dude! Jackie's on a roll. Look, she's all concentrated on the game and she defeated four of us!'' exclaimed M. Shadows. ``I think she's on crack.'' laughed Zacky. ``My turn.'' said Gates as he happily took the guitar controller from Zacky. I selected the song Jordan on Expert and another round began. The results… WE WERE TIED! ``What the freak? A tie? Gates, were you going easy on her?'' asked Johnny. ``No, I was trying to beat her the whole time.'' responded Gates. Just then Natalie entered the room. The first thing she looked at was the tie score that Gates and I had. ``Wow a tie!'' complimented Natalie. ``She defeated four of us and she managed to get a tie with Gates!'' exclaimed Shads. ``Ha, ha, ha. That's her alright. She doesn't really play the game that much, but she's really good.'' Said Natalie, ``Anyway, Jackie, there's a friend of yours that wanted to say hi to you.'' ``Who is it?'' I asked. ``You can come in.'' Natalie called out to the hallway. A girl with black hair entered the door, she was wearing a black tight-fitting shirt, a black mini skirt with a Misfits belt, purple and black stripped socks, and black shoes, and at that moment I instantly recognized that it was my friend Kim. ``Kim!'' I said happily. ``Bunny on Crack!'' Kim said happily, I went over to her and gave her a quick hug. ``Bunny on Crack?'' questioned Shads. ``Yeah, that's what my friends and I nicknamed Jackie.'' replied Kim. ``You see? You see? I was right! Jackie is on crack!'' Zacky was jumping up and down while pointing at me like a monkey. Kim and I just laughed. ``How in the world did you get that nickname anyway Jackie? Your not one crack.'' asked Rev. "…Or are you!" ``No I'm not. I got that nickname when I was in High School.'' ``Yeah, every time she would come from hiking or playing basketball during Gym class she would always be happy and she would be jumping all over the place and she would always score basketball shots nx, and that's how she got her nickname.'' answered Kim. ``You guys should try playing against her basketball when she starts jumping around like a poor little bunny on crack.'' ``That's not a problem. We could let her play against Shads.'' said Gates. ``He's really good at playing basketball. I'll bet she'll kick his behind once again!'' Gates chuckled as Shads mouthed the "F you" word to him. ``Wait Jackie, is this the band that is your favorite? What was their name again… Avenged Sevenfold?'' asked Kim. ``I'm lucky aren't I?'' ``Really lucky…Wish I could be the manager or at least the manager's assistant of my favorite band. Look at the time, I got to get going. Bye Jackie, bye everyone!'' Kim exited the room. Everyone said goodbye to Kim as she exited the door. "'I'm lucky aren't I?' Shads immitated, "So you consider yourself lucky, eh?" questioned M. Shadows making a sarcastic smile on his face. "What?" Did I say something wrong or something? What's with his sarcastic smile anyway?? "Nothing…" sang M. Shadows as he happily walk passed me. Nudging me with his elbow as he got his lyric sheet and heading back to the recording room. I was scratching the back of my head in confusion "Huh? Did I miss something?" "Seize The Day" (M. Shadows)               Chapter 3: The Set Up Scheme                                                "That! That is so unfair... This is a set-up." I said.   "Well you going to have to sing either way." said M. Shadows.   "Never!" I exclaimed sounding like a little kid who is running away from his mom just because he doesn't want to take his medicine. The guys found this amusing and laughed.   "I guess you really are a bad singer." taunted M. Shadows.   "I am not!"   "Then prove it."   "But... I... Oh forget about it. Fine." I started to play the intro of 'M.I.A.' then the Gates and Zacky joined in with their guitars, Johnny with his bass, and Rev with the drums.   "Ladies first." said M. Shadows with a smile on his face. "You’re going to pay..." I said shaking my head with disagreement. Then I started to sing...   Staring at the carnage, praying that the sun will never rise.Living another day in disguise.These feelings can't be right, lend me your courage to stand up and fight, ohh tonight.Ooooo... Stand up and fight.The fighting rages on and on, to challenge me you must be strong.I walk your land but don't belong, two million soldiers can't be wrong.   It's no fun, but I've been here before.I'm far from home and I'm fighting your war.(Not the way I pictured this, I wanted better things) [Zacky and Gates sing this part]Some are scared others killing for fun, I shot a mother right in front of her son.(Take this from my consciousness and please erase my dreams) [Zacky and Gates sing this part]Fight for honor, fight for your life.Pray to god that our side is right.And though we won I still may lose, until I make it home to you.I see our mothers filled with tears, grew up so fast where did those years go? Memories won't let you cry, unless I don't return tonight.'   M. Shadows looked at me in shock. I smirked at him. Then M. Shadows removed the shock expression on his face and began to sing the next part...   'So many soldiers on the other side, I take their life so they can't take mine.(Scared to make it out alive now murders all I know.) [Zacky and Gates sing this part]Nobody tells me all the reasons were here, I have my weapon so there's nothing to fear.(Another day another life but nothing real to show for.) [Zacky and Gates sing this part]Fight for honor, fight for your life.Pray to god that our side is right.And though we won I still may lose, until I make it home to you.I see our mothers filled with tears, grew up so fast where did those years go? (No thought of me) [Zacky and Gates sing this part]No thought of me.   Then the Guitar solos and interludes were played by Gates and Zacky…   Then M. Shadows and I sang the last part…   ‘Whoaaaa... We walk the city lonely, memories that haunt are passing by, A murderer walks your streets tonight.Forgive me for my crimes.Don't forget that I was so young, fought so scared.In the name of God and Country.’   When the song ended Natalie was clapping and jumping up and down. “That was AWESOME!!! The both of you sound awesome when it comes to a duet. Jackie you never told me that you could sing.”    “Well I guess you found out now.” I answered.    “Yeah… Thanks to me.” Laughed M. Shadows, “Didn’t you say I was going to pay?”          “Yes. WITH YOUR BEHIND BEING KICKED WITH MY FOOT!!!” M. Shadows darted out the door and I ran after him. The rest of the guys and Natalie tried ran out of the room running after us to see what was going to happen. I followed M. Shadows out of the lobby to the parking lot and he ran toward the bus. “Get back here M. Shadows!!!” I could hear Zacky and Gates laughing from behind.    “I have got to see Shads being kicked in the rear by a girl.” Said Johnny.   I increased my speed in running and was able to catch up with M. Shadows. Then M. Shadows looked over his shoulder to see me about a foot away from him. “Oh man!” He started to turn left as he got near the end of the bus. I made a left turn as well.             After a few minutes I noticed that we were running around and around the bus non-stop, so I got in the bus and waited at the entrance door. And the minute he passed by the door I jumped out from behind him and kicked him in the rear.   Ooo’s and OMG’s were heard from Gates, Zacky, Johnny, The Rev, and even Natalie herself! M. Shadows stopped running and walked back towards me. He took a deep breath and said, “We’re even.” Then he walked inside the bus while putting his hand on his behind. Then he poked his head out the door and said, “Ow… Geez girl, you sure kick hard. At least you didn’t punch me in the stomach or something; I believe that would be much worse pain than it is right now if you were to do that.”    “Did I hurt you badly?” I stuck my tongue out at him. “Sorry if I did.”    “No not much to worry about… Ow… I fine…” said M. Shadows as he went back inside the bus.   I turned around and looked at the Natalie and the others who were laughing. Johnny was rolling on the floor laughing and Zacky and Gates were laughing so much that tears were coming from their eyes.   “HA! HA! HA! Nice one Jackie!” Yelled the Rev while giving two thumbs up.   I smiled and all of a sudden someone jumped on my back.   “I’m back.” said M. Shadows   “Dude, Shads get off my back your too heavy for me to carry. I’m going to FALL!! WHOA!” and sure enough I fell backwards and landed on top of M. Shadows. We both got up and started laughing and others were laughing harder. "Seize The Day" (M. Shadows)   Chapter 1: Expect the Unexpected My name is Jackie. I am 24 years old. My occupation is a doctor, an oncologist to be exact… "Hey Jackie your first patient will be coming in within a few minutes." Natalie said. Natalie is my Secretary, my assistant, and my best friend since we met in third grade. “Okay.” I answered. Within ten minutes later my first patient entered the door and was weighed and directed to the first room by Natalie. I soon then entered the room as Natalie handed me a folder with the patient’s name and medical record on it. "Good morning Ms. Gannett how are you?" I asked as I skimmed through the folder "Fine, thank you." she responded. "That's good. I am going to schedule some examinations and x-rays which will decipher if you need to still take Chemotherapy. For now I am going to let my assistant get a blood sample and I'll be right back when she's done." I exited the room and told Natalie to get Ms. Gannett's blood sample. "There's another patient in room 2." said Natalie as she handed me another folder. I entered the room. "Good morning Mr. McGaw." "Good Morning." he responded. "How are you?" "Fine." I opened the folder, "Okay by the results of the examination that you took three weeks ago at St. Vincent's, your health is improving and you'll only need to take Chemotherapy for the next two months and your treatment will be done after that. You'll be free to go." "That's good news." he commented. "Well it's a good thing that you got your cancer treated at its early stage." "Yeah." "Okay please follow Jason to the chemotherapy room." "Okay." I exited the room and Natalie told me she was done taking the blood sample. So I went back to the first room. "Okay, so the blood test is done?" I asked. "Yes. Umm... Is it a good thing or a bad thing that my blood in my blood test sample is color black?" asked Ms. Garrent nervously. "Oh you don't really need to worry about that, it tells that you have a good potassium level. Okay your free to go, make sure to tell Natalie to make an appointment for you to see me in four weeks." I said. "Thank you Dr. Jackie." "Your welcome." I exited the room to treat the other patients. And that's how my occupation goes. On the weekends I usually have the day off, but now I help my friend Natalie out with her job at the music recording studio in L.A. Usually the people who record their music there are not popular celebrities just garage bands or people try to find fame and fortune by using their talent in singing. Usually the boring recording stuff as usual. One Saturday Natalie and I went over to the studio and her boss said that she had been promoted to manager and will be the manager of the next band that will be coming to the studio next Saturday. Obviously we expected that it would just be another boring group of new, infamous people, but little did we know that Natalie's had a surprise for us. Saturday... 11:00 a.m. "So Natalie where are the people who you are going to be managing?" I asked. Natalie was paceing back an forth nervously, fidgeting with her fingers. "Natalie?" "Huh? Oh, sorry. I'm just kind of nervous..." she stoped playing with her fingers. "It's okay to be nervous. It is your first time. Don't worry your going to be fine." "Okay." Suddenly there was a knock on the door. Natalie jumped up in the air like a cat whose tail has just been stepped on accidentally. "Natalie are you there? It's me, open up." It was Natalie's boss. I went over to the door and opened it. "Oh, hi Jackie." greeted Natalie's boss. "Hi." I greeted back. "Um is Natalie there." "Well, she is," I opened the door widely an stepped to the side. "but as you can see she is at a frightened state at the moment." "Ha, ha, that Natalie, she always been like that everytime it's her first time doing something." laughed Natalie's boss. "Tell me about it." I responded. Natalie's boss looked down the hall signaled for some people tocome over, while I went over to Natalie to calm her down. "Okay you guys, um, please exuse Natalie if she's a little jumpy. It's her first time." said Natalie's boss to someone outside. "Go ahead you can go in." "Thank you Ms. Rae." said a man's voice from outside. A group of five people entered the door and Natalie's jaw dropped. I knew she was going to panic again so I looked to her and got ready to calm her down if she was going to go all psychotic. "Hi you must be Natalie our new manager?" "U-um...yes." she said neverously. "Hi I'm M. Shadows." said the man as he shook Natalie's hand. Natalie then turned to me to mouthed the words 'OMG'. "This my assitant, Jackie." "Hi Jackie." said M.Shadows as he shook my hand. "Hi. It's actually surprising that I'm meeting the band members of Avenged Sevenfold." I said. He looked shocked that I knew about his band and all, so he looked at the others in his band and they nodded. "I had a feeling both of you girls might know about our band since Natalie mouthed OMG as she looked at you." said a guy who had long hair and was wearing a hat. I raised my eyebrows at Natalie as she looked at me disbelief. "H-how did you know?" Asked Natalie. "Well I could se it from the reflection on that mirrior you have on your desk over there." he said. "Oh. Heh, heh, forgot about that." said Natalie, "Anyway... how long until you guys perform for the concert? or are you recording first?" "I was thinking that we'd do the concert first, then the recording." said M. Shadows. "When's your concert going to take place?" I asked. "In five more weeks." "Wow that's a little far away. Do you guys just wanna fool around or somethin?" asked Natalie. "Sure." answered M. Shadows. "Um...Jackie?" asked Natalie. The way she looked at me made it obvious that she doesn't know what to do. "We could show them the recording room, if they want." I suggested. Natalie looked at M. Shadows and he just nodded. "Okay." I got out of my seat and opened the door to the hallway. "This way." Everyone exited the room and I locked the door. I let Natalie lead the way to the recording room and she unlocked the door and everyone got in. "So this is the recording room..." said Natalie. "Sweet! Drums! Um... do you have any drumsticks I can use?" asked The Rev. "Um...someone was supposed to replace them yesterday...Guess they didn't." I opened the cabinet at the left side of the room and pulled my Avenged Sevenfold drum sticks. "Here, you could use mine until we get someone to replace the drum sticks." "I suppose you play the drums?" asked The Rev. "Not really. I just play randomly, not knowing what I'm doing." "What type of instrument do you play Jackie?" asked Zacky. "I play the keyboard, and sometimes just piano." "Cool." commented Zacky. "Would it be okay if you, you know, play a song for us?" asked M. Shadows. "What kind?" I asked. "Doesn't really matter." I sat down in front of the keyboard and started playing "Beast and the Harlot" on the keyboard being very precise, and playing each piece that you hear the vocal, guitar, and the drum parts of the some harmonizing together in a really cool melody that the piano doesn't even need assistance of other instruments to make the song sound better. After I was done playing I received and ovation from Natalie and Avenged Sevenfold themselves. "Wow.. that... is... AWESOME. Ten thumbs up!" said Synester Gates. Natalie and I looked confused. Ten thumbs? You don't even have ten thumbs! "Two from each of us to be exact." clarified Synster Gates. "Oh. Okay." I answered. "You actually got me confused." "Hey, I find this kind of funny." said Rev. "Jackie are you a fan girl of our band?" "I am a fan, but not the type that would stalk you." "Fair enough." said Rev. "Explain the Avenged Sevenfold drumsticks that you just handed me then." "Eh, he, he." I laughed nervously. "Consider me guilty." "Do you know how to play any other songs that are by us?" asked Johnny Christ. "Yeah. Most of them, but some of the others I 'm still trying to figure out how to play what piece in what part while accompanying it with the melody." Suddenly M. Shadows's cell phone rang. "Hello?" M. Shadows stayed silent for five minutes listening on the phone. Then he ended the call to look at his cell phone (probably watching a video on it or something, then he shut his phone closed with an expression of anger on his face and stormed out of the room. "What's up with M. Shadows?" asked Natalie. "I don't know, I'll go ask." said Synester Gates. "Wait, we'll go with you." said Zacky. "I suggest only three." said Gates. "Jackie will go on my behalf, since she is my assistant." said Natalie. "I'm coming too." said Zacky. "Okay." Zacky and I followed Gates to the lobby of the studio.   Author's Note: Please comment.
