This world is a little dark...and she is LIGHTS. (SF, 11/8/11)
I was first introduced to LIGHTS when my brother showed me her self-titled EP back in 2008. I decided to look into her music because I thought she had a unique sound and each song were undeniably catchy, both lyrically and rhythmically. I'm glad I did more research!
LIGHTS's music is special. Her lyrics are undoubtedly intelligent and her melodies are very pleasing to the ears. That only goes to show the person she is: quirky, genuine, and humble. It's all these qualities that make her stand out from a lot of musicians nowadays. Of course, it's not up to me to animadvert, in any way upon someone's personality, but I believe her character and neverending support from fans empower her to produce music that captivate and inspire thousands, myself included; and being a musician myself, I believe that is one of the greatest achievements in the industry. I'm also motivated to become a better person than the day before because of people like LIGHTS. I'm honored to have experienced the evolution she has undergone in her music career in the past few years and how she has remained modest.
Although this will be my first time seeing LIGHTS live, I know for a fact that she will most definitely go above and beyond expectations (I couldn't see her last year due to schedule conflict). And having the opportunity to write a blog entry for my absolute favorite female artist would be a privilege. Can't wait to see her in San Francisco on Nov. 8th!
Please come back soon, the States love LIGHTS!
