International recording artist, “Just A Vessel”™, also known as “JAV”, was born Duane Edward Portman II in Tucson, AZ, USA. Although born in Arizona, JAV was raised in the state of Ohio where he attended public school. JAV excelled academically all throughout his years in school. At age 17, he graduated at top of his class, completing high school with an “A” average. Just A Vessel™ was presented with numerous college scholarships and awards (over $100,000 in total), but chose to pursue his passion, music. JAV studied classical piano from age 7 to age 18.His academic and music background, have cultivated his unique style of blending "cognizant" lyrics, with classically influenced melodies. Just A Vessel™ specializes in Rap, Hip Hop, and Alternative music. Currently, Just A Vessel™ feels compelled to address the harsh realities around gangs, genocide and moral ethics.
