  NIGHTMARE MAKES TOP 10 ALBUMS OF 2010   Hearts were heavy in Huntington Beach. December 28th 2010 marked the one year anniversary of  Avenged Sevenfold's drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan's death. Yesterday I was privileged to attend a fan generated memorial to honor Jimmy. I found out about the memorial through friends who were fans via facebook invite. The concept was simple. Let the A7X family gather in Jimmy's hometown Huntington Beach CA at Central Park and release balloons with messages tethered to them so that Jimmy can receive them in heaven. I drove down to Huntington Beach and arrived at the park. There were a few fans already gathered. Set up on the stage was a boom box with red balloons tied to it (the number was less than 99 for those wondering). It was playing Avenged Sevenfold's 2nd album Waken The Fallen. One of those in attendance was Chris Epting, a writter for Huntington Beach Independent and a friend of the Sullivan family. He has written a few articles on Jimmy and the Sullivan's. Throughout the gathering he shared stories with us and mentioned that the Sullivan's were in the area and might stop by.   AVENGED SEVENFOLD TALK ABOUT POTENTIAL NEW DRUMMER   Fans gathered and shared stories of meeting Jimmy or how they found out about Avenged and the emotions were rolling. "foREVer" became the chant that was uttered much like "amen" in church because for these fans, loving this band is like a religion. Nothing, not even death of someone who loved can alter that. People came from all around to part take in this. There was even a girl from Brazil in attendance. There were fans new and old from completely dedicated to just barely getting their feet wet. Everyone knew the words to the songs and sang along. Franki Doll even gave a breath taking performance accapella for the fans to help set the mood. After a few hours everyone gathered received word that the Sullivan family would be making an appearance. A collective decision to wait to release the balloons was made; we were to wait and release the balloons with the Sullivan's. The whole family came, including Jimmy's grandmother. Joe Sullivan, Jimmy's dad was the nicest man. It was easy to see where Jimmy got his personality and kindness from. It was a learned behavior. The family shared stories about Jimmy that were truly amazing. Jimmy's dad and sister showed us their matching necklaces and fans showed their tattoos with the family and took pictures. It came time to release the balloons. We let Mr. Sullivan count off the balloons and on the count of one, two, three with "So Far Away" from Avenged's latest album Nightmare playing in the background. At one point the CD player stopped working and in the most beautiful display of appreciation everyone in attendance including Mr. Sullivan who was perhaps the loudest voice there all sang the words accapella as we watched the balloons, letters, prayers, hopes and dreams float high into the sky. As we watched we prayed that Jimmy would get and read our letters. I believe many of the fans took the CD stopping as Jimmy's way of saying "I hear you, thank you." It was truly a beautiful memorial and the organizers and everyone in attendance agreed that there needs to be a memorial every year on the anniversary of Jimmy's death and also on Jimmy's birthday down in Huntington Beach. This is one of my attempts to write something about Jimmy "The Rev".  I know nothing will never be enough for him, but I have to express my feelings somehow... So this is a text which is composed of verses from the songs of Avenged Sevenfold, nothing special, just one of millions written for him. Rowen's POV:  Aiden woke me up to get ready to leave to the airport.I was so sleepy,Aiden seemed wide and awake I wonder how he does it.We were leaving on tour. We are headlining with Avenged Sevenfold.I already knew the guys,I use to go to high school with them, but after me and Jimmy spilt up I kinda disappeared with out a trace. I was so nervous ! This would be the first time in years I would see all the guys again.All sudden my phone rings its Jack our drummer in the band.   Rowen: Hello Jack Jack:Hi ....uhm where are you guys at ? Rowen: Aiden and I are in the taxi heading to the airport.Why? Where are you guys? Jack:Were at the airport  Rowen:Jeeze all ready ...What time did you guys leave ? Jack:Around 3:30 am  Rowen:WHAT! How long have you been waiting ? Jack:An hour in a half  Rowen:Wow, Our flight leaves at 9:00 am, you know that right? Jack:Yeah but I didn't want to be late Rowen:okay thats on you ,well I'm gonna go so bye  Jack:okay see you when you guys get here  After that I laid my head on Aiden's shoulder and fell asleep. Jimmy's POV: Brian and I were driving to the airport.I couldn't wait to see her again.It was years since I last saw her ,but in a way I was nervous.The last time I saw her we were breaking up , it wasn't pretty either. Brian Wanted to see if she got any hotter.Hmm honestly I wanted to see for myself too. I knew she was tall ,she was always tall for a girl , she was 5'10 I believe. Brian always said that we were both the prefect size for each other . I have so many questions about her running in my head . My phone started ringing it was Matt  Jimmy: Hello Johnny: Hello  Jimmy: Johnny ,Why in the hell do you have Matt's phone? Johnny:Because I lost my phone  Jimmy: AGAIN! *STILL REN’S POV* "How have you been?" Jimmy asks. "Yeah good, you?" I ask. "Not so good but anyway" he says. We just stand there in silence and I just look at Jimmy. He looks like death!
