If friends and relatives insist that you are "stuck" with Facebook, then perhaps they're right. To help those who are addicted to the famous social networking site to realize their situation, especially the University of Bergen (UiB) have created a test able to spell the "bell" of risk.
Counting the e ... 'visits'
The test, known as Bergen Facebook Addiction Scale, based on six criteria, which he is required to evaluate on a scale from one to five - where one represents "very rare" in the two "rare" three in the "sometimes" in the four "common" and five to "very often".
Here are the six criteria of easy and quick test that helps us to "diagnose" the dependence on FB
- Do you spend much time thinking about FV, and planning how you will use the FV.
- Feeling the need to use FB more and more.
- Use FB to forget your personal problems.
- Have you tried to reduce the use of FB, but to no avail.
- If you refuse to use FB you feel restless or agitated.
- Use FB so far as to have a negative impact on work or studies.
If you did the above test and answered "often" or "very often" to at least 4 of the 6 criteria, you are probably addicted to this social networking site. And when the scientists are not alone.
" The use of Facebook has grown exponentially. We study a subset of Internet addiction on the Social Media "says study leader Dr. Cecil Sue Antreasen .
The patterns of addiction
The study, published in the journal " Psychological Reports ", involved a total of 423 students (227 women and 196 men). It was found that there are some clear patterns that indicate addiction to Facebook.
" This type of addiction seems to be affecting mostly younger ages. We saw that people even socially anxious or insecure use Facebook more than others, and find communicating viaSocial Media easier when compared to face communication , "says Dr. Antreasen.
The researchers also found that the organized and ambitious individuals to face less risk of falling into the nets of addiction in FB. Use, however, often social media for purposes related to their work and for networking with others.
" Those most at risk of becoming addicted to Facebook are women, perhaps because of the social nature of that page , "adds the expert.
The study also showed that the FB addiction is also associated with how one is extroverted.
