SKINS RECAP: O CANADA!

This week on MTV's Skins it was Abbud's time to shine. To say I was impressed with Ron Mustafaa would be the understatement of the century. This was a favorite for the cast to film and now I know why! The episode was incredible. Bryan Elsley has been outdoing himself week after week. The episode was emotional, romantic, and comical. The acting has improved drastically since the beginning. It's almost impossible to believe that these actors have little to no prior acting experiance. Ron Mustafaa graced the screen like he was born to play to role of Abbud. I was able to see Ron's reactions for myself. I'm so thankful that I got to hang out in the MTV Skins writer's studio for the second week in a row. The writer's studio has such an amazing energy. Whenever I'm there, I feel like anything is possible. My Skins experiances have been life changing. The entire cast is just so down to earth and humble. Ron has to be the most humble guy on the planet. The man of the hour graciously thanked all his viewers on Twitter. He asked me during a comerical break , "Are you enjoying the episode?" "YES. Of course." I replied enthusastically. I was MORE than enjoying it--- I was connecting to it. I was so into the episode that at one point, I almost forgot that I was sorrounded by cast members. Almost. The episode was that good.

In this episode, the gang is on their way to a fun filled weekend in the Candian wilderness. They have their passports in tote, chaperones in place, and (smugled) drugs -- If Stanley can handle the task of pooping the drugs out. However, the chaperones are preoccupied with their own agendas. Tina is dealing with her obvious attraction to Chris. While Chris is making it his sole mission to get Tina to fall for him. The gang's quirky teacher Dave wants to get closer to Tina. Tina is beyond repulsed by the idea. Although Dave has good intentions for his students, his out there methods result in a trip filled with hilarious shenanigans. I find their teacher Dave to be absouletly hilarious. He made the episode a riot. I laughed eighty percent of the episode. In fact, I almost cried of laughter during some scenes.
The episode focuses on Abbud's love for Tea. Abbud is stuck in the friend zone and wants more than anything for Tea to see him in a different light. Little does Abbud know, Tea is struggling with other issues ( Tony related issues). Tea is confused by her 'connection' with Tony. Meanwhile, she's struggling with her feelings for Betty. Should she embrace the dysfunction and countinue to sneak around with Tony? Or should she take a chance and try out a relationship with Betty? "Relationships suck", according to Tea. Despite Tea's unwillingess to change, Betty isn't going anywhere and she isn't giving up on Tea. Tony isn't giving up on Tea either. Abbud is blissfully unaware of this love square going on right under his nose. He insists that his feelings for Tea are real. Although his feelings are unrequited. Tea loves Abbud but she isn't in love with him.
The boys makes it their mission to get high on the trip. What better place to do it at then 'Camp High in the Wild' . Getting weed via Stan, turns out to be a longer process than expected. Desperate for a buzz, the boys resort to shrooms that (may or may not) be poisonous and even licking toads. "There comes a time in every man's life when they must ask themselves, how badly do I want to get high?" This scene will go down in history as my favorite scene of the season. THIS is why I love Skins. The friendship, the comedy, the passion... It's realistic. Some teenage boys can be disgusting and they will shamelessly do things like this.
When Tony refuses to be intimate with her, Michelle finally starts to suspect something is going on with Tony. It took her long enough! She feels Tony is pulling away from her and she can't do anything about it. I feel badly for Michelle in the Tony/Tea scenario. She's getting cheated on by Tony constantly. Deep down, I truly believe that Michelle has some inclination of Tony's constant cheating but choses to ignore it. Tony kissed Tabitha right in front of Michelle's face. Although Michelle bitched slapped Tabitha -- Michelle still went right back to Tony. I love Michelle but I'm starting to lose respect for her. Michelle is weak. I look forward to the day when Michelle realizes she's fierce on her own and doesn't need Tony. Sorry to say, but Tony deserves to be single. I hope by the end of the season Tony learns some lessons in how to treat females.
Tony enjoys a challenge and Tea is a challenge for him. I don't think that Tony loves Michelle. I'm sure he cares about her in his own 'Tony' way of caring. But I think at the end of the day , Michelle is just a hot girl to have on his arm .It's hard to say whether or not Tony's feelings for Tea are genuine. But I think it's okay for Tea to be confused about her feelings. It's normal and natural for her to want to experiment. Tea is just a teenager trying to find herself. I may not agree with Tea's decisions, but I respect her. If you can relate to Tea then that's amazing. But Tea isn't the spokesperson for all lesbians ...
I hope Abbud finds a girl he can be himself with. I know that in time he will get over Tea. Tea and Abbud have such a beautiful friendship and it would be a shame for his feelings to get in the way of what really matters. Relationships come and go but friendship is everything.
HIGHLIGHTS
These four are a hilarious team. The four of them on screen together is magic.
A random yet pleasant surprise. Look everybody it's 'Lunch Lady Sheila' from Degrassi! A lot of former Degrassi actors on Skins, eh?
In the words of Ron Mustafaa, No mooses were harmed in the making of this episode.
Chris showed his romantic side in this episode. I want to like Tina and Chris together but it still feels so awkward to me. I hope I am able to change my mind somewhere down the road. Their first kiss was really sweet though, I have to admit.
Dave = Funniest teacher in the history of teachers. This scene was amazingly funny.
I'm loving Daisy and Michelle's friendship more and more. Camile and Rachel together are adorable. I love how after all the searching for drugs, they stumbled upon what they were looking for. I'm excited for both their episodes.
This scene was heartbreaking. My heart broke for Abbud. Tea stomped on his heart without even realizing. I think Abbud's reaction to seeing Tony and Tea together was a wakeup call for her.
There were so many emotional scenes in this episode. Ron gave such a compelling performance. There were a lot of beautiful scenes between Tea and Abbud. Sofia and Ron have really great on screen chemistry (as do the entire cast) .
Such an amazing episode. I look forward to the rest of the season!
