Fashion Profile: Sayuri Tabuchi
So, i've had an idea of doing some 'Fashion Profiles' on some of the designers that truly inspire me and also, on people who inspire me. It will mainly be about their style, their brand, random facts and their inspirations. I hope that you enjoy reading them :-)
My first 'Fashion Profile' is on the lovely and sweet Sayuri Tabuchi, owner and designer of Spank! and Spank Me! vintage stores in Tokyo. The brand is a candy floss explosion of cuteness and hugely popular with any Fairy Kei lover. Made up of 80's vintage clothing, Spank! is full of original pieces and re-worked pieces, all in pastel colours and themes of popular 80's cartoons like 'My Little Pony'.

The store actually opened in 2004. Tabuchi adores all things 80's and pastel but she couldn't find exactly what she was looking for in other stores, so Spank! was born :-) According to an interview with TokyoFashion.com, she likes to go over to the USA to buy Vintage Clothing. She travels to NYC and Chicago during the winter and to LA and San Fransisco during the summer.

Before Spank! Sayuri Tabuchi was studying at VanTan Fashion School (random note, i would kill to go to Fashion School in Japan!!!)...and she was also working as a manager in a different Vintage store. The people who visit her stores can range from students right up to women in their 40's. Spank! has something for everyone and it's a key value in the store.

As far as future projects are going, Tabuchi would like to open pop up shops all over the world! I seriously hope she opens one in the UK!
So, that's Sayuri Tabuchi, the queen of Fairy Kei and all things cute and pastel! If you would like to check out her blog, click here and if you would like to see more images of Sayuri Tabuchi and Spank!, click here
