Hayley's pov

“Hayley, are you okay?”

It was Tegan's voice; I knew it by heart, but still, I didn't want to uncover my face. Tegan's fingers wrapped around my wrists and yanked my hands away from my face. “Hayley, I'm so sorry that this happened.”

I pulled my arms away and looked her dead in the eyes. “Tegan... He... He lied to me,” I sobbed, my shoulders shaking so hard. “He said he loved me, and he didn't mean anything he said to me. He lied to me... He lied to me.”

She grabbed my face in her hands and stared right into my eyes. “Hayley Williams, listen to me. Josh doesn't deserve someone like you. You don't deserve to have your heart broken, either. He's stupid for what he did, but you have to be stronger than this. You'll find someone right for you, I swear.” She wiped my eyes with her thumbs and smiled down at me, her firetruck-red hair embracing her face sweetly. She looked so hopeful, so seriously optimistic, and I hugged her close, not able to stop myself.

“See, Hayley?” she whispered, stroking my hair. “It's not all that bad.”

“I'm sorry,” I whispered back. “Don't... don't let me go, okay?”

She let out a sigh. “I'll try not to, Hayles.”

We arrived in the next town we were to play in, and Jeremy was all over Josh like a cheap suit. I couldn't take it. I curled up in my bunk, despite Tegan's little courage speech, and I went through my messages. Luckily I had a smart phone, so I didn't have to delete my messages that often. I kept all of Josh and I's messages. I looked through them, my heart pounding fast and tears escaping my eyes.

I have something to tell you. But you can't tell anyone cos they'll probably laugh and call me a loser. :( okay?

Well... I decided to be romantic and sneak into your apartment before you got there so I could surprise you with dinner and stuff but your neighbor thought I was breaking in so he kinda broke my leg... I'm currently in the hospital. Uh...

I felt like my heart was being torn out. I scrolled down further and read more texts.

I selected all those worthless, stupid messages and I deleted them all. It was too painful. I curled up and sobbed, not caring who heard me.

“Is she okay?” I heard Josh ask.

Tegan let out a sigh. “No. She's been mumbling and whimpering for the last hour or two. You really crushed her.”

“I never meant to hurt her,” he yelped. “I kept it a secret because I didn't want her to get mad at me fore being gay.”

“She wouldn't be mad at you for being gay!” Tegan yelled. “She probably would have understood if you would have just explained everything to her! You idiot!”

Taylor's voice joined the mix. “Hey... want me to carry Hayley up to the hotel room?”

Tegan cleared her throat. “Yes, please, Taylor. Thanks.”

I was being scooped up into thin arms, and carried off. I let myself shake in Taylor's arms, because I knew he would have hugged me. Taylor was like a big brother; he would have beat up Josh for it if I asked. I hugged Taylor back and let myself silently cry some more. I was too broken to do anything.

“You're in your room, Hayles,” Taylor murmured, setting me on the bed. “Tegan should be up soon.” He turned on his heel and walked out, leaving me alone. I curled up in a ball and waited for Tegan.

It took her an hour to get here, but when she walked through the door, she was smiling. She looked at me and smiled wider. “Hayley, dear... SMILE!” She tackled me and tickled me until I was squirming and flopping around the king-sized bed, screaming in laughter. She pinned me, straddling my waist and tickling me, which made me cry harder and beg for mercy, giggles filling the air.

“I'm glad you're smiling,” Tegan laughed, her fingers finally at rest, and my sides not being tickled anymore.

I smiled at her, her red hair everywhere. Finally, she looked down at me and lifted off.... a fire-colored wig. “This was a dare, by the way. Sara dared me to do this to see if you'd be upset by not being the only ginger.” She winked at me.

“I didn't mind at all,” I panted, breathless from all the tickles.

Tegan laughed again, brushing her real, brown hair from her eyes. I sat up quickly and threw myself at her, slamming my lips against hers. I could feel her gasp a bit, but then quickly regain herself and kiss me back. Her sweet lips opened and our tongues wrestled, our fingers tangling through each other's hair. She pulled her mouth away from mine and attached her lips to my neck, kissing down until she reached my collar bone. She sucked gently, leaving a slight hickey.

“Yeah!” we heard Sara from outside. “Tegan and Hayley are already in there. I'll talk to you later, Taylor!”

Tegan and I quickly broke apart and I rushed to the bathroom, afraid I'd be seen with the love mark Tegan left on my skin.
