Simple Plan
Meet David, Seb, Jeff, Chuck, and Pierre. Together, this quintet make up the Canadian pop-punk band Simple Plan. There's not enough words for me to describe this band to you. I've listened to them ever since I was 11 years old, and eight years later, I still jam out to them. In 2002, SP released their first album entitled No Pads, No Helmets... Just Balls. You may recognize a few tracks from this album such as "I'm Just a Kid," "I'd Do Anything," "Addicted," or "Perfect." I think what drew me to this band was how easy it is to relate to their songs. They wrote songs about things they were going through at the time such as fitting in, pleasing your parents, growing up, etc. I seriously think that anyone, no matter what kind of music you're into, can relate to at least one of Simple Plan's songs. In 2004, Simple Plan released their Sophomore album, Still Not Getting Any... This time around the boys weren't focused on creating "pop-punk" music, but rather just good music. And I know what this album title sounds like, but get your heads out of the gutter! They picked the title Still Not Getting Any... because the band felt like they weren't getting any respect. Not from fans, but from the media. This album did not disappoint in the slightest bit and it may be my favorite album SP has put out to date. Finally, in 2008, SP put out their latest self-titled record Simple Plan. Now this CD has a different sound than the previous two albums, but not to worry, some of the songs still sound like the older records. I'd say that you can definitely hear the growth the band has made with the music they produced in this album. Some of the songs are more hard-hitting while others are soft. It's a good blend and balance of what this band can really do. Now as I stated before, I've listened to this band for years. I grew up with them, as they grew as a band. Maybe that's why I'm so attached to them, but it's never to late to become a fan of Simple Plan. The band is currently writing for a new album, which I couldn't be more excited for. I can't wait to see what these guys are going to deliver next, which I'm sure it promises to be another great record. Songs (so it's super hard for me to just pick 3 or 4 songs by these guys, but here are some of their bigger hits): 1. Addicted
2. Perfect
3. Welcome To My Life
4. When I'm Gone
