Cassadee's Dream Continues
I wasn't even wet when that mysterious hand pulled me from the water. All that time drowning in the water and not one drop on me. Not even watermarks under me on the dock. I checked behind me to see if the boat really did sink. Sadly, it did. My parents down with it.
I looked up. All I saw was a sillhouette of a body. He was bending down. Silent. Just watching over me. I stared back. "Did my parents really sink with that ship? Or was that just a figment of my imagination?" I asked. The bodily shadow didn't answer. "Um, hello? Who are you? You just gonna stand there?"
That's when he finally did something. He stood striaght and turned away from me. He began walking. I couldn't get up to follow him, though. My legs...they felt like they were being chained to the dock. All I could do was reach out and grab the end of his shirt just before he was out of reach. He stopped in his tracks, his back still facing me. "Cass." His voice was not of earthly descent. It had a slight echo to it. It was like he was just a ghost. "Cassadee, you have to let me go."
"What? Who or what the hell are you?"
"Someone you love. A loved one. a loved one that you have to let go of, though. For sure we'll meet again. but not for a long time. I'll be there in your desperate time of need. For that time being, you have to let me go. Just let go, Cass." It spoke.
"I won't let go unless...unless you show me your face." I braved for the worst. But I also feared for the best. Who was this guy? He started to slowly face me. I started to shake with anticipation. He turned a full 180. And I saw his face. I let go of his shirt and gasped.
"Oh...oh my god. Oh my god, no."
"Cassadee, will you let me go now?
"God, no. Oh please, geezuz, no! Don't do this to me!" I began begging. "Don't fucking do this to me Alex Gaskarth! Don't do this! Alex...please..."
He smiled at me. Like an angel. "Like I said, love. I'll be back when you're in dire need of me. But, for now, you have to let. Go. I love you."
"I love you, too."
"Then I have to go now."
"No, Alex! Help me up and...and we can go together! Just you and me, love. Just help me to my fucking feet, please!" I looked down at my feet. It turns out that they really were chained to the dock. I heard the jingling as I tried to break myself free of them. "Alex!"
"Cassadee, I can't help you. You have to let me leave. Hear me, love? Let me leave. Let me go. I'll do the same." He kept walking into the distance for several moments. Then...he disappeared. Just like that, he was gone. I was left alone.
* * *
"Ah!" I yelped. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. I looked around me. No lake. No dock. Just me in my bedroom at ten in the morning. "Oh, shit, it was just a dream. Thank God." I looked to my side. Alex wasn't there. "Alex?" In his place was a note left for me. I picked it up and read it.
Good Morning Beautiful! Come downstairs and have breakfast with me. I need to tell you I love you twice a day, everyday, starting today.
A smile of appreciation crept upon my cheeks as I got up from my bed. But just as swiftly as it appeared, it left. I thought back to the crazy dream I just had. That just made me want to see Alex even more. I didn't think of putting any slippers or robe on. I just had to see him. I vowed to see him as much as possible, just as he had the same plan. So, I rushed to him.
I made it downstairs. Then I sprinted to the kitchen. I held onto the doorway's threshold when I saw him. He was breathtaking. He was shirtless. Only wearing jeans. I was holding onto my support because I felt my knees become weak by the sight of the beauty.
He turned and smiled at me. That same smile that my dream version of him had. "Hey, good morning, Cass. I made some...Shit, you look like someone just died. What's wrong?" I shook my head. I let go of the threshold and ran to him. I entered his open embrace and nuzzled my face into his naked chest. He held my back and kissed my forehead. "What the fuck is wrong, love?" I didn't bother answering when I know he already heard me bawling like a baby. He lifted my chin up and swiped a few loose strands of hair out of my face to prevent the tears from making them stick to my cheeks. "What's wrong, Cassadee?" I shook my head one more time.
"I just love you so much." My broken voice managed to croak out. He chuckled and pulled me up by my chin to kiss me on the lips, bringing me onto my tippy-toes. He held my face for a moment.
"I love you, too. Now come on." He let go of my head and instead held my hand. "I made some scones." My stomach grumbled. "And by the sound of that fucking tummy, the pastries are ready to be eaten."
I tried to lighten the mood with some small talk. "Scones, huh? You don't see an eighteen year old boy bake scones now a days." I took a little dark chip from one of the scones and popped it into my mouth. "And with chocolate chips, too? You surprise me way too many times, Gaskarth."
"Well, when I started being home alone on weekends while my parents worked I kind of had to learn to cook for myself. Scones were a recent thing." He said as he placed the platter of baked goods onto the table. "Well, Madmoiselle Pope, bon appetite." I picked one up and took a huge chomp out of it.
Hot damn, was it good! The way the bread and the chocolate melted in my mouth brought my stomach to heaven. "Damn, Alex, you're a good cook!" I stuffed the small morsel left of the scone and swallowed it with satisfaction.
He began to eat. That's when I stopped. I stopped to look at him. Remember his face. Remember the way he eats. Just remember him. I know, again, that makes me sound like a creeper, but who wouldn't be a creep to this guy? I mean, it's not like it's gonna get to the point where a girl's gonna sit in a bush outside of his house, take pictures of his dogs, and then when Alex finds her there she's gonna take a picture with him. Right? Because that's just creepy. I wouldn't do that. But, I will try to remember Alexander William Gaskarth's face for as long as I can.
"Cass? Did you hear what I said? Hel-fucking-lo?"
"I asked why you weren't eating."
"Uh...oh yeah, I thought that two would be enough for me at least."
"Okay." He checked his watch. "Shit, I gotta meet up with the boys for practice." He got up and grabbed his belongings from my room and headed for the door.
"You're leaving already?"
"Don't get your panty in a bunch. You can't get rid of me that fucking easily. I'll take you to school tomorrow. Love you."
"I love you, too. I'll walk you out."
I followed him outside until about halfway down the sidewalk where I bumped into his back. He stopped where he was. Then I heard him cuss under his breath. "Fuck, I forgot you lived in this neighborhood."
"Hi, Alex. What are you doing here?" I heard a female voice say. I looked around to see a blonde girl with wide blue eyes walking her dog in a jogging suit. She was really pretty. Her jacket had BHS initials ironed onto the breast part. So, she went to Baltimore High, too. "Um...hey..." He turned to face me. "Cass, this uh..."
"Oh, you're that new girl, Cassadee Pope. Yeah, I heard you were dating Alex." She extended her hand to me. "I'm Alex's ex-girlfriend. My name is Lisa. Lisa Ruocco."
