LA-LA LAND RECORDS SHANKS ONE WITH CADDYSHACK

“It's easy to grin / When your ship comes in / And you've got the stock market beat. / But the man worthwhile, / Is the man who can smile, / When his shorts are too tight in the seat.”

--Judge Smails--

(January 4, 2010- Burbank, CA) – Tee up with the premiere CD release of the legendary soundtrack to the immortal comedy classic CADDYSHACK.  The soundtrack will be available on January 5, exclusively at soundtrack boutique stores including ScreenArchives.com, Buysoundtrax.com, Intrada.com, and the record label’s website, www.lalalandrecords.com.

Out-of-print for many years, and never before available on CD, the soundtrack features original music by composer Johnny Mandel, with pop classics from Kenny Loggins, including "I'm Alright (Theme from Caddyshack)", "Lead The Way", "Make The Move" and "Mr. Night," and Journey's "Any Way You Want It".  The soundtrack was digitally re-mastered from the original master tapes and sounds better than ever!  Limited at only 3500 units, this special reissue through La-La Land Records and Sony Music is a must-have for all CADDYSHACK fans, movie music enthusiasts, golfers, and of course... gophers who know how to party.

To create the original score, Director Harold Ramis turned to Johnny Mandel.  “Johnny's credits were really great, and I thought it would be wonderful to have someone that accomplished do our score,” Ramis says. “After all, this was the guy who did the MASH theme, one that people have been hearing for almost 40 years. But I also wanted CADDYSHACK to sound as ‘conventional’ as most movie scores were at the time, with an orchestra and everything.”

The choice to approach Kenny Loggins would come from Michael Dilbeck, friend of executive producer Jon Peters.  Dilbeck described, "Kenny really liked Danny's character, and wrote a song that said that no matter what happened to him, he’d be ok. Danny would be all right.”  Loggins would contribute three additional tracks to the soundtrack.

Movie Nerd Time - 2009 Releases

So i was talking to my friend Jannette the other day, and she was ranting on about how New Moon is THE GREATEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR and RPattz is SEW HAWT and SO BADASS cause he was Cedric in Harry Potter, or something. I don't know. I haven't watched a single HP movie since I nearly died of boredom during the first one. Anyway, needless to say, I disagree tremendously and I think the people who do think that are INSANE and should re-consider their taste in movies. Except for James St. James who is allowed to like whatever he wants. So inspired by that coversation I decided to make another year end list cause I like making lists and I'm bored. Now take into account I live in the asshole of the world where movies get released sometimes even a year after they were released in the States so, yeah, my list kinda fails epically. But it's probably still better than New Moon.

my top 9 favorite movies of the year, in no particular order except for #1, 2 and 3

9. Public Enemies

Oh yeah. That's Johnny Depp and Christian Bale right there. Beat that RPattz and TLaut.

8. Up

You're missing on something ridiculously amazing if you haven't watched this. This is more than just a great kids movie, it's a great movie overall. And here I was thinking Pixar couldn't get any better, they have been out-doing themselves every year since 2007's Ratatouille (Cars was a downfall imo). So yeah guys, PIXAR FTFW.

7. Star Trek

I didn't know shit about Star Trek except for what I'd heard from notorious nerds like my friend Enrique and, you know, Weird Al Yankovic. But I still enjoyed this a lot! Lots of lulz. epic nerdage, badass action scenes, Eric Bana being creepy, swoon-worthy leading men and Simon motherfucking Pegg. Awesome.

6. Taking Woodstock

I wonder what it's like to be Ang Lee. Like, how does he chooses his projects? Does he just go "so like, I already made a movie about martial arts where people run on tree tops, another one about the Hulk, then a movie about gay cowboys, how do I follow that? Oh I know! I'll make a movie about Woodstock! W00T I'M AWESOME". Yes. Yes you are Ang Lee.

5. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

LOLLERSKATES. I don't even know why I like this so much. I just do. (and even then it's probably still better than New Moon)

4. Julie & Julia

I loved the movie, and then I saw a few interviews with the real Julie and, yeah, she ain't nearly as charming as Amy Adams. Still a great movie though.

3. (500) Days of Summer

(ohai there Joy Division t-shirt)

Because fuck yeah it was about time Joseph Gordon Levitt got the recognition he deserved. And because fuck yeah let's all listen to some fucking Smiths.

2. Sherlock Holmes

I saw this last weekend. It was quite a funny experience. The theater was packed, of course, and in the middle of the previews the film stopped working. 30 minutes later, IT WAS STILL NOT WORKING. So there we were, about 90 angry people yelling at the manager asking for refunds or free nachos or whatever. Yeah I know that doesn't sound like a lot of fun but it really was. We were all joking and it was at one point like a big party at the movies. YAY PARTY AT THE MOVIES! Eventually though, the movie started and of course, it was nothing short of sheer genius.

And if you don't agree here's a

from Irene Adler herself.

Also:

I would. Oh I sooo would.

1. Inglourious Basterds

THIS MOVIE IS JUST ABOUT THE BEST THING THAT HAPPENED THIS YEAR, IT IS SO BADASS AND EPIC AND FUCKING AMAZING AND YOU SHOULD ALL BOW DOWN TO QUENTIN TARANTINO BECAUSE FUCK YES ONLY HE CAN PLAY A DAVID BOWIE SONG IN A WWII MOVIE AND GET AWAY WITH IT, YOU KNOW WHY? CAUSE HE'S QUENTIN FUCKING TARANTINO AND HE'S A FUCKING GENIUS AND EVERY MOVIE HE'S EVER MADE IS AWESOME. SO THERE.

I must not be the only one that has this weird twitch - I read a book, get to the last page and want more!!  So SOMEONE make a movie (Y)?

Do they always work?

Or conversely, there might be a book that you've read that should NEVER be unleashed on the world as a whole (Im feeling a Twilight backlash happening here)

So - to reiterate:  BOOKS TO MOVIES - SHARE WITH US YOUR GOOD, BAD AND ONES TO WATCH

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THE HILLS RUN RED FOR COMPOSER FREDERIK WIEDMANN

Young Composer Celebrates The Release Of THE HILLS RUN RED On CD

(November 16, 2009- Burbank, CA) – Composer Frederik Wiedmann is proud to announce the release of The Hills Run RedOriginal Motion Picture Soundtrack, available on Varese Sarabande.  This release is the second time a soundtrack composed by Wiedmann has been released on CD, the first being 2007’s Return To House On Haunted Hill, also available on Varese Sarabande.

Frederik Wiedmann began his film music studies in Boston at Berklee College of Music where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Film Scoring (Suma Cum Laude) in 2004.  That same year he earned the BMI Film Scoring Award 2004. He began working for composer John Frizzell (Office Space, Alien Resurrection) as orchestrator, score mixer, arranger, programmer and eventually as co-producer and co-composer. Credited on the Defiance, Ohio soundtrack as “the guy who keeps it together,” Wiedmann has continues to work with Frizzell on upcoming films like Legion and Whiteout while making a name for himself composing for films like Return to House on Haunted Hill and Cyrus

The film’s director, Dave Parker, initially told Wiedmann he didn’t want a traditional horror score for the film.  But Wiedmann felt otherwise.  “Soon after sharing both our ideas about the music,” said Wiedmann, “Dave and I quickly realized that the right thing for the film is a score on a larger scale, with orchestral elements, and electronic layers on top of it. We found that themes are necessary for the story, as well as iconic sounds, that are unique to certain characters.”

To accomplish the perfect balance between a more traditional score and the director’s vision, Wiedmann utilized more unconventional orchestrations (larger viola section than violins) with experimental instrumentations (dulcimer, string drums, different woodwinds), performed by the Czech Film Orchestra and featuring vocals by Ayana Haviv on “Desiderio” and the final track “Phantasmagorical Holocaust.”

Wiedmann described, “This final scene in the film needed a grand, operatic, yet horrific and at the same time eerie composition, to really convey the emotions that the main character, Tyler, is going through. Ayana turned out to be a perfect match; her voice has both an ethnic touch as well as an operatic feel. Dave [Parker, director] was a big part of this vocal session and directed the vocalist to the right sound.”

The result pleased both composer and director.  “With film I want the viewer to be thrilled, disturbed, scream, and cover their eyes,” said Parker.  “But don’t cover your ears or you will miss out on all the great music that lies within.”

You heard the story. The one about the goriest, bloodiest splatter fest ever, the one made in the ‘80s but mysteriously lost. Flash forward to now: Young fright fans search for the secret location where the movie is shot, hoping to find the film. What they find is that the mysterious shocker flick was more than a movie.  It’s real.  And they’re its newest stars.     The Hills Run Red with a whole new level of horror as the terrified cinephiles confront a demented killer who wears a nightmarish babydoll mask. Wait, Babyface is just a character from the movie, right? Wrong. He’s alive. He’s waiting. And he’s thrilled to meet fans who will die – slowly, gruesomely, shockingly – for his art.  Roll camera!

Warner Premiere presents a Dark Castle Home Entertainment Production The Hills Run Red, is currently available on DVD.  The Varese Sarabande soundtrack The Hills Run Red, containing original music composed by Frederik Wiedmann is available in stores and via iTunes.
