Round 2 of The Vans Warped Tour: What A Day.

izshkabobula Jul 17, 2012

It’s that day again, the exact date from last year, the 2012 Vans Warped Tour. It’s going to be fun, though the skies look tempting to rain, but hey rain or shine. This year I’m not going my by myself though. Well not technically speaking. Amanda texts me at around 10A.M to tell me she’s in line, and the line is long. So I’m on my way downtown.

There are three lines going on when I get there. One is for the normal line, the second is a skip the line, & the third is to buy your tickets. I find the skip the line, line then, find out you actually have to buy a wristband for skip the line, well I’m cool and I don’t need to because they let me in all the same.

I buy a schedule, and I try to find Amanda, well that’s a challenge. I can’t even find out where I’m going. I end up in the wrong part of the “flats”. So I’m on a bit of a detour. We end up meeting at the I Heart Boobles tent. I bought myself a new I heart Boobles bracelet since I lost my other one. I like this one a lot. J From there I bought a pass to meet All Time Low at three, and then Pierce The Veils new CD so I could meet them at five. I was a happy camper. We just chilled around for a while buying merch and all. We stopped and her friend that she came with wanted to get food so we waited for her. We sat on a hill to rest for a little while. That’s when I got a text from Katie saying she was by the Kis Soul Stage so I met her over there, she was very easy to spot out wearing a dress, and she was there with her sister. It was so good to finally meet her, though it felt like I already had met her haha.

We watched the ending of Skinny Lister. They were very interesting. I mean very interesting, one guy was playing the cello, the lead singer looked like a man in drag but it was really a woman! We then moved out towards the acoustic basement tent, and just listened as we talked about people who were at Warped Tour. All Time Low played the Kia Rio Stage at 1:50 and so we made our way over, which wasn’t very far, unlike some of the other stages that would take you at least 15-20 minutes to walk to. It wasn’t the best place for Warped this year.

It was the moment when they came on. I drifted away into the crowd, and I didn’t like this crowd. The girl in front of me complained I was hitting her with my elbows, but she was jumping on me. I just didn’t feel this crowd or the performance. They came out playing Get Down On Your Knees and Tell Me You Love Me. Then they played Damned if I Do Ya (Damned if I Don’t) and that got the crowd going. They announced that they were planning a Canadian Tour for January for their new album that is coming out in the fall, exciting stuff! They also played Time Bomb, which I thought was nice since the song has a lot of meaning to me. They also played Weightless, which is so fun to hear live. Alex and Jack went around asking if we were pregnant from the last time they were in Toronto. He goes if not then BAM you are now. They played Jasey Rae as well, I love that song, I remember when they played that the first time I saw them at this amphitheatre. There was a lot of pollen that floated around that they kept getting in their faces. Alex goes “What is this stuff, I keep getting it in my mouth” Jack pipes in “Stop fucking ducks. I don’t know what is legal here but I’m pretty sure its not fucking ducks!” They ended their set with Dear Maria, Count Me In, and a true All Time Low classic.

I reunited with Katie after and we went to watch We The Kings at the Kia Soul Stage. I don’t know any of their songs other then Check Yes Juliet. It was fun though. I left half way through the set to go and see Yellowcard at the Acoustic Basement tent. Well I couldn’t see them at all; I was all the way at the back, so no pictures. I got a glimpse of Ryan Key though. They played Hang You Up that was the only song I knew the rest I couldn’t really hear or I didn’t know, but it was sosososo good! They should play more acoustic shows it was amazing.

It was three then so I went to stand in the never-ending line to meet All Time Low. As I waited in line I saw Yellowcard walk through the crowds to put their gear away. I was like “oh hey”. It was a long line that felt like forever. It started to rain really big drops in line, but it would stop and go. I got to the table and it was pouring. I took a couple photos of Zach who was looking right at me. Jack was crazy. He was like “Hello Canadian Fans” I was like can I take a photo of you, and he made the craziest face LOL. Then I got told no photos at the table. So I walked down the table, but Jack was like “hey, wait” he wanted me to give him a high five LOL. Rian said nothing to me, he barely even looked at me, the same with Alex, but Zach said thanks and smiled.

From there I went to get some pizza from Pizza Pizza. Well it was pouring by this time and I was completely soaked. I stood in line and I got to the front and they told me they weren’t selling anymore, just my luck. I ended up following everyone else to somewhere that was dry. We ended up going into the amphitheatre, since they weren’t using it, it was closed, but they opened it, and everything was shut down for an hour. It was pouring and hailing at one point, it got really cold. There were puddles up to my ankles and my sneakers got soaked, but after a while I didn’t care. I just wanted the show to continue. It wasn’t going the best so I wanted it to continue so it could get better. Well I can tell you it did.

The show resumed at 5:00P.M and walked back to Pizza Pizza and waited in line, but the line I was in didn’t have any money in the till so I just left, I had to meet Pierce The Veil. They came out and I saw them as they cut through the line. It was awesome. This line moved faster. I got to the table and Mike was first then Tony, though I call him Perry since that’s his last name lol. They all asked me how I was and it was so awesome, they are so nice. I saw Jamie next, then Vic, ahhh I died lol. He asked me how I was, I was like great, how are you, he said good, and then he said thank you, I was like no thank you, and I just stood there for a few seconds then I smiled huge and gave him the thumbs up. He just laughed :D Ah it was such a perfect moment.

Then I went back to the Pizza Pizza, can you believe I did? I waited a whole hour for pizza! I missed Yellowcard because I was in line. I could hear them though, they played Ocean Avenue from what I could hear, and Five Becomes Four, the rest I couldn’t hear from other bands playing. I was sad by that. I met people in line though, we talked about the really expensive food, 5.25 for a slice of pizza, they had paper I said they were better off eating it. Then another guy we talked about how long we were in line for. Crazy.

I went and ate my pizza by myself watching Miss May I, and Of Mice & Men. After I found a spot in the back to watch Breathe Carolina, oh they were so good. I enjoyed their music so much, so dance-y! :D They were wearing Toronto Maple Leafs on their clothes I just laughed, a lot of bands do that when they come here, and I always wonder why? Or do they know that, that team isn’t the greatest haha. Jeffree Star crept in my photos, he photo bombed my photos haha.

Then New Found Glory played over on the Kia Soul Stage and I moved closer to the Kia Rio Stage (these stages are right beside each other, and only one stage plays at a time). I watched, and listened to NFG, then it was time for the main event for me.

Pierce The Veil! I was so close it was amazing. They came out and everyone exploded. They started with Besitos, thenThe Boy Who Could Fly, not one of my favourites but I love the lyrics. Then Bullet Proof love, it was so good, I loved singing every moment. They had to cut their set short because of the rain delay so they could only play a couple songs, it was very sad, they played King For A Day, I lost my shit, and I bounced off everyone around me. Kellin Quinn came out from Sleeping With Sirens and it was all that more crazy. It was very well done. They ended with Caraphernelia. It was so god as well. I wish it could have lasted longer. I screamed so hard I almost threw up. it was a good time.

I ended up meeting Katie again and we watched the ending of Bayside, then we watched a cover band, before You and Me at Six performed. I’ve never listened to You and Me at Six but they were so good. It was the perfect way to end the night.

The sad thing about today's Warped Tour though was a girl at the age of 19 died of cardiac arrest during the Chelsea Grin set. I didn’t mean to make it sad at the end because it was such a good day, but damn there’s no way around it you know? This is her tumblr page, the last thing she wrote gets you pretty shaken up over it. I hope she’s in a better place now, and at least she died having a great time!

After saying goodbye I walked way too far to meet my dad, I ended up walking where all the tour buses were. I walked past Jack from ATL but he didn’t see me, I just smiled lol. I had to walk all the way back to meet my dad. It was a lot of walking. But overall it was a great another great year at Warped Tour.
