It's Who We Are Chapter 11
“I really need to stop drinking” Charlie mumbled when she woke up against Alex’s chest.
She slowly pulled away from him and as quietly as she possibly could she slipped out of the bed. She grabbed her shoes off the floor and tiptoed to the door. She opened it only as far as she would need, and slid through the small opening. She rolled her eyes when she spotted Jack on the couch, meaning she would have to continue to tiptoe through the apartment. By the time she got back to her apartment it was almost three in the afternoon. She took an extra long shower, changed into a pair of sweats and a hoodie and sat on her couch. She sat there for about half an hour before she decided what she was going to do next. She was sick of having her life planned out for her, of her grandparents dictating what she could and couldn’t do, where she could and couldn’t go. She was sick of her parents always giving in to her grandparents, she was sick of her surname and all that went with it, and she was sick of being scared. She was scared that recently she had actually started to agree with Alex. Scared that she had started to realise that he made her knees go weak and her heart rate to pick up when he touched her. Scared that she could see that he actually had feelings for her and petrified that she could have feelings for him. She realised that she couldn’t allow that to happen, so she jumped off the couch and sprinted to her room. She pulled her suitcase out of her closet and threw it on the bed, She then proceeded to go through her drawers and closet, pulling the clothes she was most comfortable in out, folding them and packing them into the suitcase. She went into her spare room and got some boxes she had kept from when she moved in and began packing up her most prized positions. She could send someone to pack the rest of her things up later.
She was halfway through packing when she got the feeling that she wasn’t alone.
“What the fuck are you doing?” Alex demanded from her doorway
“How did you get in here?” she demanded back turning to face him
“Key” he answered holding up a key
“How did you get a key to my apartment?”
“Your grandmother gave it to me. Thought I should have a key to my fiancées place”
“You’re both as delusional as each other” Charlie huffed turning away from him
“You still haven’t answered my question” he reminded
“What does it look like?” she snapped
“You’re not leaving” he told her
“I disagree” she jeered zipping her suitcase up and pulling it onto the ground
“I’m not going to let you quit school and leave Charlotte” he warned
“It’s not up to you Alex. Contrary to popular belief I’m an adult and I can make my own decisions. I’m not getting married, especially to you, and I never wanted to go to Yale”
“It’s been decided Charlotte, you have no options left. If you leave they’ll find you and bring you back, if you stay and quit they’ll cut you off” he explained
“Don’t you understand? Money doesn’t matter to me, it never has!” she yelled
“Put that back” he ordered when she grabbed the handle of her suitcase
“Have a nice life Alex. I hear Dallas Huntington is willing to get married, perhaps you’ll have better luck with her” she smiled stepping forward
“What’s with everyone telling me about her?” Alex muttered “I don’t want her” he argued
“You don’t know what you want” she laughed bitterly and pushed past him.
“You’re not leaving” he grabbed her wrist and spun her around “I want you” he stated before crashing his lips against hers.
“Alex don’t” Charlie breathed shakily as his lips trailed down her neck
“I want you” he repeated “I love you Charlie” he declared looking in her eyes
“You called me Charlie” she smiled
“That’s all you heard?” he chuckled “I just told you I loved you”
“But you called me Charlie” she repeated shocked. Alex shook his head and grabbed her waist.
“Stay Charlie” he whispered placing light kisses down her throat
“Oh shit” she stuttered when her stomach started to stir at his touch “How do you do that?”
“Darrel never kissed you like this did he?” he teased, his kisses becoming harder
“No” she agreed, not even capable of correcting him as he pushed her to the bed
“I’ve waited a long time for this” he gasped when she pulled him down onto the bed
“So why are you going so slow?” she asked pulling his shirt off
“Because you’re worth going slow for” he replied kissing her sweetly.
“Shit!” Charlie groaned looking under the sheets at her naked body
“It’s cold” Alex complained pulling her hands down so the sheet was laying over them again.
“Umm, what are the chances that we didn’t actually have sex last night?” she asked
“Non existent” Alex answered opening his eyes to look at her
“Terrific” she grumbled
“Can you please calm down?” Alex asked wrapping his arm around her and pulling her closer
“You’re naked too!” she screamed and shifted away
“Obviously” he smirked “What’s wrong with you?” he asked
“Did you want me to list all the things that are wrong with this situation?” she snapped
“The only thing that’s wrong is that you are way over there, and I’m way over here and I’m cold now because of it” he joked
“Can you be serious for one fucking second?” she hissed
“Fine. Let’s talk about this” he sighed sitting up
“We were safe right?” she checked
“I’m not ready to start a family with you just yet” he grinned
“I’m glad you think this is funny” she mumbled
“Ok look, I have a deal for you” He cleared his throat
“Great more deals” she said sarcastically
“Hear me out” he ordered
“Fine” she sighed sitting up, but pulling the sheet with her
“Ok. So we only have a year left right, so if you stay in school and agree to marry me”
“No” she cut him off
“Just think about it. If we get married, you’ll be free of your grandparents once and for all, and you can go back to dancing. When we graduate you can do whatever you want career wise”
“Until I have to start breeding right?” she shot back at him
“Well yeah, but I don’t mind waiting to have kids. We can just be together and have fun”
“Alex” she sighed heavily
“I meant what I said last night. I do love you, and I have for a while now. I want you to be my wife Charlie” he explained “I can make you happy” he promised leaning towards her and kissing her. He smiled when she leaned more into the kiss and grabbed his face in her hands. He moaned when she pressed against him and he realised she had dropped the sheet. He ran his hands over her body as her tongue slipped into his mouth and she shifted into his lap.
“I’m not marrying you” she panted pulling away
“Why not?” he whined “I love you and I’m pretty sure you feel strongly about me” he gestured to how she was sitting
“I have a deal for you” she told him
“What is it?” he asked curiously
“I’m not marrying you, but I will agree to try dating” she offered
“I’ll take what I can get” he agreed quickly, pulling her face to his and pushing her onto her back
“Alex?” she whispered against his lips
“Yeah?”
“Top drawer” she instructed when she felt something very familiar against her thigh
“No kids yet” he smirked rolling back on top of her.
