We Got There In The End - Chapter 13 Part 2

Alex D’s POV
It was six forty five and I was surprised Kenzie hadn’t come out to us yet. I mean, I know girls take ages to get ready, but this was getting ridiculous now.
“Kenzie are you almost ready?” Joey called. I heard her feet padding down the aisle, then the curtain that divides the bunks from the front lounge flung open
“Ready for what?” she asked standing in the doorway in a pair of sweatpants and an oversized t-shirt
“You can’t go dressed like that” Dave noted
“Go where?” she asked calmly
“Uh on your date with Alex”
“There is no date” she shrugged “Regardless of what Alex says” she glared at me
“But, he’s going to be here any minute” Marsh tried to reason with her
“That’s not my fault” she turned to me “You can explain why I’m not going” and with that, she turned and walked back to her bunk.
I swore under my breath as I followed her
“I don’t want to talk to you” she told me
“I know, but it’s not fair to Alex. I told him you’d go out with him”
“That wasn’t your place” she snapped “you think you can just pimp me out to your friends and I’ll go along with it”
“I’m not pimping you out!” I yelled, then softer “I made a mistake before. I thought I was protecting you from him and what I thought could happen and that was wrong. But I know you want to go out with him, so why don’t you just give him a chance?” I begged sitting next to her “I hate upsetting you”
“It’s not about that anymore” she said quietly “I told you I forgave you for that. I understand why you did it”
“Then what’s it about?” She rolled over to face me but didn’t say anything “I went and got you a dress to wear. I really liked this one” I told her grabbing the dress out of my bag.
“That’s sweet Al, really it is, but it’s better for everyone if Alex and I don’t go out”
“Because you think you’re not good enough for him?” anger surged through me when she nodded “When will you see yourself for what you are?” I stood up “That you’re smart and funny and kind and that everyone loves having you around” I pulled her out of the bunk and grabbed her shoulders lightly “Kenz. Everyone loves you, you’re so fun to hang out with and any guy would be crazy not to like you” I took a deep breath and looked into her eyes “so please? Please believe me and give Alex a chance” I grabbed the dress again and handed it to her. I smiled when she took it from me.
“Thank you for this. You really shouldn’t have” she kept looking at the dress
“It’s the least I could do” I shrugged casually
Then calmly she spoke “No, I mean you really shouldn’t have, because I’m not going tonight. Alex will get over it, no big deal” and placed the dress back on my bed. I lost my temper then. I grabbed the dress and screamed at her “I swear to god Mackenzie. Get fucking dressed or I’ll do it for you”
I raised my eyebrows daring her to argue. She sighed in defeat and took the dress from me again. “You wont regret it. I promise” I kissed her forehead “He’ll be here soon, so be quick” and walked back to the front lounge.
