Summer Music ... All About Weezer
I simply cannot believe that summer is all but over! I don't post music much, but I want to talk about Weezer! I have 4 of their cd's and I have pretty much listened to them exclusively this entire summer! I have all 3 of the self titled albums and Pinkerton! So lets talk about Weezer and my favorite songs!
The band was formed in 1992, with their first album being released in May of 1994 with Rivers Cuomo (founder of the group) playing guitar and serving as the lead singer! Patrick Wilson is on drums, guitar, backing vocals! Brian Bell plays guitar, backing vocals, keyboards! Lastly, Scott Shriner performing on bass, backing vocals, keyboards! The debut album is simply called Weezer, but over time has come to be called the Blue Album!
There are so many GREAT songs on this album ! So this blog doesn't go on forever, I will only show you my favorite song for each album that I have! On this album that would be Buddy Holly! The band goes into an episode of the 80s television show "Happy Days"! Weezer is the band playing on the stage and Arnold's drive in! If you haven't heard this song, or seen this video, please watch! You won't be disappointed!
The next album that I have (in order of when they were released) is Pinkerton! This album is much more punk and/or alternative than their other albums! I love it! It was released in September of 1996! Most of the album was written by Rivers Cuomo while he was away at studying at Harvard University! It is basically about his disillusionment with the rock lifestyle! I have just gotten this album used on Amazon for $1.11 ! Isn't that an unusal price? I took them up on that offer! There are plenty of songs that I like on this album, but my favorite is Pink Triangle which is speaking about Rivers falling in love with a gay girl who doesn't love him back!
The next album that I have is the second self titled album Weezer, but it is referred to as The Green Album! It was released in 2001! It had three singles, and two of them are my favorite! We have a tie! I love both Hash Pipe and Island in the Sun! I will show you Hash Pipe's video because I like it best! The sumo wrestlers are just too funny! I hope I spelled that correctly! It has a really grungy alternative sound, and it is just great when played loud or when they do it live!
Finally, I really enjoy the third self titled album called The Red Album! This album was released in June of 2008! This album contains the popular singles Troublemaker, Pork and Beans, and Dreaming! I love them all so much, this is my favorite album! I will make the hard choice and narrow it down to one favorite for you to check out ! I have to go with Pork and Beans because at the release of the single, Buzznet got involved ! We could splatter pork and beans on each other's pages! It was rather fun! Pork and Beans went viral on the internet very quickly because the video contains well known internet videos and internet celebrities! I could listen to this album forever I think! Here is Pork and Beans for you!
So there you have it ! This is what I have been filling my head with all summer! You might remember that I won a Buzznet contest in 2010 where Kay and I were flown down to Atlanta to see them live! If you want to read the blog that I wrote upon my return! CLICK here
