I found one of these outside and kept it in my room in a 2" deep wagon when I was five. Naturally, it escaped, and my mom was not very happy when I confessed and asked her if she had seen it anywhere.

It looks like some type of Hawk or Sphinx Moth........This is probably close to the actual size of the caterpillar, Amazing macro especially in full size : )

this is like the worms that eat tomato plants here in california, but they don't look as "dirty" and they have spiky red tails that stick up. magnificent insect, but they really creep me out.
