"And the VMA for the video of the year goes to..."
That's pretty much what you'll be hearing this weekend as a new contender wins the honor of being crowned with one of MTV's highest honors and awards, video of the year. This year's nominees include: Adele's "Rolling In The Deep", Beastie Boys' "Make Some Noise", Bruno Mars' "Grenade", Katy Perry's "Firework", and Tyler, The Creator's "Yonkers". With a mix of old school artists and fresh ones to the scene, the award is still up for grabs with voting still open.
Some of the most talented artists have won video of the year since the MTV Video Music Awards began back in 1984. Video of the year is not for any typical artist, this particular winner must have the musical talent and the ability to deliver and even better video to go with their chart-topping tracks. Videos filled with theatrics, unique choreography, stand out makeup, and the best of the best costumes are a must. With decades of winners who have made MTV history again and again, here is a list of the 10 video of the year recipients since 2000. From pop princesses and rock legends to powerhouse hip-hop artists and remarkable collaborations, these are the videos who had it all and took the award to prove it.
Make sure you tune into the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday, August 28 to find out if your favorite artists won the moonman! The show will air on MTV starting at 9/8c. Cast your vote now!
