Is The Judges Save Ruining American Idol?

As everyone has seen over the past two weeks on American Idol, Jessica Sanchez (aka the one who the judges kiss ass every week), was saved by the judges after America had decided enough was enough and sent her home. Because of the judges save, fan favorite Colton Dixon was sent packing the following week as he could not be saved. This got me thinking, is the judges save a good thing, or is it ruining American Idol?

Here is a little history lesson: The judges save was introduced in season 8 and was used on contestant, Matt Giraud, during the Top 7. The follwing week Anoop Desai and Lil Rounds were given the axe in a double elimination. Matt didn't last long in the competition as he was given the boot the following week leaving the Top 3 to be Danny Gokey, fan favorite Adam Lambert and Kris Allen who went on to win Idol.

The following year, the save was used on Michale Lynch, who had botched The Beatles "Eleanor Rigby" that week. He made it to the top four. However, many fans had wondered if using the save on him was a good idea to begin with, as fan favorites, Casey James and Siobahn Magnus were still in the running. Siobahn was eliminated coming in sixth which ended up making fans of the show mad. The ratings went down drastically as many fans chose to boycott the show due to her elimination, as she was seen as a front runner to be in the top three. Casey ended up getting third with Crystal Bowersox as the runner up and Lee Dewyze winning season 9.

Last season was the big shocker of them all. Fan favorite Casey Abrams was eliminated the third week. However two weeks later, Pia Toscano, whom was said to be a front runner to win season 10 was eliminated. The judges were visibly and vocally upset by the elimination and to this day was considered the most shocking elimination in American Idol history. Casey went on to place 6th in the competiton, however the rest of the season ended up being a shocker as well. Rocker James Durbin, whom was condsidered to be in the top two was eliminated coming in 4th (the same as Chris Daughtry). The top three ended up being Haley Rinehardt, Lauren Alaina and winner Scotty McCreery.

This brings us up to the current season. After Jessica Sanchez was eliminated, the judges decided to use their only save on her. However, fan favorite and front runner Colton Dixon was eliminated the following week. Many viewers have pointed out that because the judges have been sucking up to Jessica, every week, even when she has a bad performance, it feels like they are jamming her down our throats, when clearly America was sick of her. The same can be said about Matt Giraud and Michael Lynch as well.
Is the judges save really necessary for American Idol? It feels like when the judges decide to keep someone whom America wanted to sent home, it seems to backfire in their face as a fan favorite who could have won is sent packing early due to the retaliation of the nationwide audience.
Personally, I feel like it takes away the fun of American Idol. The judges save pretty much means that our vote doesn't count, especially when it comes to a contestant that the judges are sucking up to and kissing ass. I also feel the current pannel of judges is a big problem. When the judges save was introduced we had a balanced panel that included veterans Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and the new addition of Kara Dioguardi. However since Simon, Paula and Kara left, the current trio of Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson have done a terrible job. They seem to pick favorites, then rip on the others who are far more talented then the ones the judges suck up to.
What do you guys think, do you think American Idol should do away with the judges save and go back to the original format? Lets here what you have to say!
