BEIGE

Everything is very beige now. Beige car parts, seat belts included, beige dinners and breakfast foods, beige towels, and swingsets, textbooks in brown lettering, because black is to frightening, too strong, and quite frankly old.

And everything is very neutral now. Neutral road bends, no signs included, neutral faces and handshakes, neutral television commercials, neutral relationships, watercolors in neutral palets, because color is to hyperactive, to gender specific, and quite frankly happy.

I need to solve all my large problems, I mean the really big ones, while they are still small, you know?

Nothing but absurd decisions to change the familiar leads us to the same place of boredom. All in all, when things are torn and handled by the butcher’s hands of market place, above the quiet solitude of hallway doors slamming and brass beds thumping in the go away night, we still change the familiar through boredom, and cubes of ice too big for our glasses.
