Balmain Parts with Christophe Decarnin, New Designer Named

Olivier Rousteing will be taking Decarnin’s place at iconic French label Balmain. Balmain announced on April 6th that it was parting ways with Decarnin. Rumors spread about Decarnin’s possible substance abuse and mental instability, but according to Women’s Wear Daily, those rumors were overblown. However, tensions within the design house ran high — Balmain’s chairman and CEO Alain Hivelin are said to have very different views on the label’s future direction.

Olivier Rousteing worked at Robert Cavalli for six years, and then at Balmain for the past three years. Hopefully, Rousteing will successfully carry on Decarnin/Balmain’s signature glam-punk look.

bye bye, Christophe.

What do you think about the designer change at Balmain?
