‘The Little Mermaid’ Live-Action Film Finds Its Prince Eric
He’s no Harry Styles, but he’ll definitely do. Disney has finally found their Prince Eric for the upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. British actor Jonah Hauer-King will play the iconic role.
The 24-year-old is a bit of a newcomer in Hollywood but you might recognize his face from certain projects. He’s recently stared in A Dog’s Way Home and was in the BBC Little Women series. He joins Halle Bailey, who will play Ariel, in the Rob Marshall directed film.
The news comes after lots of buzz surrounding the casting was created by musician Harry Styles previously rumored to play the Prince. It was reported earlier this year that Styles was confirmed and just as fast as the news broke, it was announced he had declined the offer. Styles has said that though he would have loved to play the character, it wouldn’t have fit with his extensive music schedule.
“I want to put music out and focus on that for a while. But everyone involved in it was amazing,” Styles told The Face. “So I think it’s going to be great. I’ll enjoy watching it, I’m sure.”
The film is expected to begin production at the beginning of next year. We can’t wait to see who else will be included in the cast!
