Tom Holland Is A Real-Life Superhero

It looks like we have Spidey himself to thank for getting Disney and Sony to finally reach a deal to keep Spider-Man in the Marvel universe. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Tom Holland was a driving force behind the reconciliation between the two companies.

Holland reportedly was persistent when he made appeals to both Disney CEO Bob Iger and Sony chairman Tom Rothman to save the deal between them. Apparently, he was able to use his role in Sony's upcoming film Uncharted to give him some leverage to persuade Rothman to sit back down with Disney to negotiate.

Holland can't get all the credit though. Fans were very vocal about how they wanted Spider-Man to remain in the MCU and this reportedly also helped influence the decision.

The Spider-Man deal originally dissolved between the two companies on August 20th, when Disney tried to negotiate a 50-50 co-financing deal. Thankfully, following Holland's push to continue negotiations, the two studios announced they had reached a deal for a third Spider-Man movie on September 27th. The deal will also allow Holland to appear as Spider-Man in at least one more upcoming Marvel movie. Leave it to your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man to save the day!
