As A Shock To Practically No One, Miley And Liam Broke Up Again

The couple has had a wild ride, to say the least.

Anyone who has followed Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth over the past ten years probably isn't surprised about their recent breakup. The couple first met in 2009, while they were filming the romantic movie The Last Song. Just like their characters in the movie, the two hooked up during filming.

This kickstarted their on-again, off-again relationship. In 2012, Miley and Liam got engaged but broke it off within the year. In December of 2018, the two finally married in a secret ceremony.

By August of 2019--less than a year after the marriage--the couple once again separated. While on vacation in Italy, Liam found photos of Miley smooching another actress, Kaitlynn Carter. Pals of Liam reported that he was "devastated" and "totally blindsided" by the betrayal.

"Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, [Miley and Liam] have decided this is what's best while they both focus on themselves and their careers," the couple's spokesperson told People. "They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while loving taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy."

Fans met the news with mixed results. While some people reacted with dismay, others claimed that they called it. Even President Donald Trump has commented on the news, tweeting, "@MileyCyrus – don't worry about Liam. You can do much better and you have plenty of time—remain strong!"

Despite their separation, other sources told People that the couple is not planning to formally divorce. However, official representatives have no yet commented.
