Barbie (Yes, The Doll) Attended The CFDA Awards To Accept Her Special Tribute

Not only did Barbie attend the Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards, but she also wore a custom designer dress.

The iconic Mattel doll spent her 60th birthday at the CFDA Awards in New York City this year. Barbie hit the red carpet in a custom-made outfit by Diane von Furstenberg.

In her Instagram post, Barbie celebrated Diane von Furstenberg's final year of being a Board of Directors' Tribute. "She is a longtime friend and collaborator!" the doll posted.

Before heading to the Brooklyn Museum for the Awards ceremony, Barbie strolled through Astor Place in East Village wearing a pink wrapped dress, chic sandals and a summery cream tote. She teased her nighttime Awards outfit in that same post.

Barbie is the first nonhuman to receive an award from the CFDA, specifically the Board of Director's Tribute Award. Steven Kolb, CEO and President of the CFDA, explained that "Barbie has had such wide influence on American fashion and culture."

Previous recipients of the CFDA awards include Michelle Obama, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Nancy Reagan, Michael Kors, and Calvin Klein. Now, Barbie will be added to that list.
