It's been a little while since we were all on the edge of our seats waiting for William and Kate's latest little bundle of joy to arrive. Now that Harry and Meghan have welcomed their new daughter, let's take a look back at all the other royal children who were born over the past two decades.
These babies (some of whom aren't quite babies anymore) are a little further away from the throne than Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, but they're still in the royal family. Keep reading to find out all about these other royal babies.
Arthur Chatto Is The 25th In Line For The Throne
Arthur Chatto was born in 1999, so he's 21 years old now. He's the oldest "royal baby" on our list. This photo was taken a while ago, but if you want to see more recent photos of Arthur, you can check out his Instagram page. From what we can gather from his social media presence, this kid is living the good life.
He's always traveling and hanging out with his friends. Arthur's grandmother is Princess Margaret, who is Queen Elizabeth II's sister.
Charles Armstrong-Jones Is The Queen's First Paige Of Honor
Charles Armstrong-Jones was also born in 1999, and he is also Princess Margaret's grandson. Charles is the son of David Armstrong-Jones, 2nd Earl of Snowdon and Serena Armstrong-Jones, Countess of Snowdon.
In 2012, his grand-aunt Queen Elizabeth II appointed him to be her First Page of Honour. Charles Armstrong-Jones is the heir apparent to the Earldom of Snowdon and 22nd in line for the British throne, right after his father.
Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones Is Charle's Younger Sister
Charles Armstrong-Jones has a sister, Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones, who was sitting beside him in the car in the previous photo. This is a more recent photo of Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones, her brother, Charles, and their parents, David Armstrong-Jones, 2nd Earl of Snowdon and Serena Armstrong-Jones, Countess of Snowdon.
Margarita was born in 2002, and she is three years younger than her brother. She is 23rd in line to the British throne.
Savannah Phillips Is Queen Elizabeth II's First Great-Grandchild
Savannah Phillips is the first daughter of Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly. Peter Phillips is Princess Anne's only son. He is Queen Elizabeth II's first grandchild, and his daughter, Savannah, is the queen's first great-grandchild.
Savannah is 15th in line to the throne, right after her father who is 16th. Savannah was born on December 29, 2010, at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. Queen Elizabeth attended Savannah's baptism which happened at Holy Cross Church in Avening, Gloucestershire.
Eugenie And Jack's Child Is 12th In The Line Of Succession Now That Meghan And Harry's Baby Has Arrived
Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank announced some exciting news on September 25, 2020. The couple, who had a glamorous wedding at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in October 2018, had become parents-to-be.
Buckingham Palace confirmed the news of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's ninth great-grandchild. In a statement, the palace said, "Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in early 2021."
Isla Phillips Was A Bridesmaid At Meghan And Harry's Wedding
Isla Phillips is Savannah's younger sister. She was born on March 29th, 2012, also at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. Isla is 17th in line to the throne, just behind her sister, Savannah. She was baptized on Saturday, June 30th, 2012 at St. Nicholas' Church in Cherington, Gloucestershire.
Both Isla and Savannah were bridesmaids at Meghan and Harry's royal wedding. Isla's middle name is Elizabeth, which is likely a nod to Queen Elizabeth II.
Mia Grace Tindall Is A Big Sister Now
While Peter Philips is Princess Anne's only son, Anne also had a daughter who she named Zara. Zara Philips married rugby player Mark Tindall in 2011 and they had their first child, Mia Grace Tindall, on January 17th, 2014.
After Mia was born, Zara suffered two miscarriages while trying to have another child. Eventually, she was able to carry another baby to term and her second daughter, Lena Elizabeth Tindall, was born in 2018.
Lady Louise Windsor Entered The World Quite Dramatically
Lady Louise Windsor is the youngest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. She is 14th in line for the British throne. Lady Louise's parents are Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, and Sophie, Countess of Wessex. Prince Edward is Queen Elizabeth II's youngest child.
Lady Louise's birth was quite a dramatic affair. Prince Philip was out of the country when she was born in 2003 via emergency C-section due to placental abruption.
Eugenie And Jack's Bundle Of Joy Has Arrived
Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank welcomed their first child on February 9, 2021. Their first child, a son, was born at The Portland Hospital. The new parents brought their baby back to Frogmore Cottage, where they moved ahead of their son's birth.
A week after the birth, the couple had not yet publicly announced their baby's name. This isn't too unusual for the royal family; Princess Beatrice's name wasn't revealed until almost two weeks after her birth in August 1988.
Estella Taylor Is 47th In Line To The Throne
This is Estella Olga Elizabeth Taylor. She was born on December 21st, 2004. Lady Helen, Estella's mother, is currently 44th in line to the British throne, which puts Estella somewhere around number 47.
Lady Helen is a great-granddaughter of King George V of the United Kingdom, so Estella is King George V's great-great-granddaughter. Estella's father, Timothy Taylor is an art dealer. In 1998, he contracted Hodgkin's disease, which is likely why there's such a big age gap between Estella and her brothers.
Lyla Gilman Probably Gets To Go To Kensington Palace A Lot
Lyla Beatrix Christabel Gillman is the daughter of Lady Rose Gilman, who is the daughter of Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester, who is the youngest grandchild of King George V and Queen Mary.
Lyla was born on May 30th, 2010. She is 35th in line for the British throne. Lyla's grandparents, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester now officially live at Kensington Palace. They've been living there since 1994.
Archie Arrived On May 6, 2019
On May 6, 2019, news spread that Meghan Markle had gone into labor. Just hours later, Prince Harry confirmed the news in a brief appearance, and Buckingham Palace made the official proclamation that Baby Sussex had arrived. Two days later it was revealed that they had named him Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, in a departure from tradition.
Harry absolutely beamed as he addressed a crowd of reporters to announce that he and Meghan were the proud parents of a newborn son. "I'm very excited to announce that Meghan and myself had a baby boy early this morning, a very healthy boy," he said while smiling.
A New Baby On The Way For Zara Tindall And Mike Phillips
In December 2020, Mike Tindall made an exciting announcement on his podcast. He and Zara Tindall are expecting another child to join daughters Mia and Lena.
Phillips joked that he'd love for this child to be a boy. "I'll love it whether a boy or a girl - but please be a boy," he said. Either way, the Queen and Prince Philip are said to be "delighted" at the good news.
Princess Beatrice Will Welcome A Baby The Same Year As Her Sister, Princess Eugenie
Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mozzi were married just 10 months before they announced the joyous news of their soon-to-be family addition on May 19, 2021.
As is tradition, the parents-to-be notified the Queen before the public received word via an official statement from Buckingham Palace. "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in autumn of this year. The Queen has been informed and both families are delighted with the news." Many congrats to the couple!
Louis Windsor Stood Tall At Jack And Eugenie's Wedding
The young man on the right-hand side of this photo is Louis Arthur Nicholas Felix Windsor. He was born on May 27th, 2014. In this photo, he's all dressed up for Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's wedding.
Nicholas and his wife, Paola, had three sons in total and no daughters. In this photo, Louis is holding the hand of Theodora Williams, who is the daughter of singer-songwriter Robbie Williams and Ayda Field.
Xan Windsor Is 29th In Line To The Throne
Lord Culloden, Xan Richard Anders Windsor was born on March 12th, 2007. He is currently 29th in line to the British throne. Xan is the son of Major Alexander Patrick Gregers Richard Windsor, Earl of Ulster and a physician named Claire Alexandra Booth.
When Xan's father was born, he was ninth in line to the British throne. Now, so many new babies have been born that Major Alexander Windsor, Earl of Ulster has dropped down to 28th.
Valentine's Day Announcement About A New Sibling On The Way For Archie
On Valentine's Day 2021, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced via social media that their son Archie was going to become a big brother. The news came just a few months after the Duchess revealed in a touching New York Times op-ed that they had miscarried last July.
A spokesperson for the couple said, "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child." Their firstborn, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, will turn two in May. The news was announced on the 37th anniversary of Princess Diana announcing she was pregnant with Prince Harry.
A Queenly Name For Archie's New Baby Sister
On June 6, 2021, came the long-awaited announcement that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's new baby had arrived. Born weighing 7 lbs 11oz, their new daughter is named Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. Lilibet was chosen because it's the royal Family's nickname for Queen Elizabeth, and Diana is of course to honor Harry's mother, the late Princess of Wales.
The announcement, posted to their Archewell website, said, "She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we've felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family."
Maud Windsor Was An Adorable Bridesmaid
Maud Elizabeth Daphne Marina Windsor was born at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center on August 15th, 2013 in Los Angeles. She's the little girl on the far right-hand side of this photo next to Princess Charlotte and Savannah Philips.
Maud is the daughter of Lord Frederick Michael George David Louis Windsor and British actress Sophie Winkleman. Princess Eugenie is one of Maud's godparents, so obviously, she got to be a bridesmaid at Eugenie's wedding.
Isabella Windsor Has A Very Famous Godparent
Isabella Alexandra May Windsor was born on January 16th, 2016. Isabella was christened at Kensington Palace in June of 2016. Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver was in attendance, as he is a good friend of Isabella's mother, Sophie Winkleman. Jamie Oliver is also one of Isabella's godparents.
In 2017, Sophie was seriously injured in a car accident. Another car swerved to miss a deer that was crossing the road and rammed right into Sophie's car. Thankfully, she survived the crash.
Eloise Taylor Has Two Much Older Brothers
Eloise Olivia Katherine Taylor was born on March 2nd, 2003. She's the eldest daughter of Lady Helen Marina Lucy Taylor and Timothy Verner Taylor. Timothy and Helen have four children, and their two sons are much older than Eloise. Eloise is the first cousin twice removed of the Queen!
Their eldest son, Columbus George Donald Taylor, was born in 1994, and their second-born son, Cassius Edward Taylor was born in 1996. Eloise has one younger sister.
James, Viscount Severn's Birth Wasn't As Hectic As His Sister's
James Alexander Philip Theo Mountbatten-Windsor was born on December 17th, 2007. He is the only son of Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, and Sophie, Countess of Wessex. He's Lady Louise Windsor's younger brother and he's the youngest grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II.
Like his sister, James was born via Cesarean section, but this C-section was a lot less chaotic than his mother's first, and Prince Edward actually got to be present for the birth.
Leopold Windsor Looks Just Like His Brother
Are we seeing double? This photo looks almost exactly like the photo we just saw of Albert Windsor. This is Albert's little brother, Leopold Ernest Augustus Guelph Windsor. He was born on September 8th, 2009. He is the second child of Lord Nicholas Charles Edward Jonathan Windsor and his wife, Paola Doimi de Lupis Frankopan Šubić Zrinski.
Lord Nicholas and all of his sons are in the line of succession to the Dukedom of Kent.
Rufus Gilman
Rufus Gilman is the youngest child of Lady Rose Gilman and her husband, George Gilman. Rufus' grandfather is Prince Richard, the second Duke of Gloucester.
Richard was working as an architect when his older brother died and he was called upon to take over the position of Duke. His mother was the third daughter of the 7th Duke of Buccleuch, which makes this current duke a grandson of George V and Queen Elizabeth II's first cousin.
Albert Windsor Is The Queen's Cousin's Son (At Least Once Removed)
Albert Louis Philip Edward Windsor was born on September 22nd, 2007 at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. Obviously, this is an older picture of him. He's around 14 years old now. Albert is the son of Lord Nicholas Charles Edward Jonathan Windsor, who is the youngest child of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, and Katharine, Duchess of Kent.
This makes Lord Nicholas Queen Elizabeth II's first cousin, once removed.
Tane Lewis Was Named After A Tree
Tane Lewis is the youngest child of Lady Davina Elizabeth Alice Benedikte Windsor and her ex-husband, Gary Lewis. Gary and Davina also have a daughter, Senna Kowhai Lewis, who was born in 2010.
Tāne Mahuta Lewis was born on May 25th, 2012. Tane was named after a giant tree that grows in New Zealand. Gary Lewis, Tane and Senna's father, is from New Zealand. Gary was the first person of known Māori descent to marry a member of the British royal family. He and Davina got divorced in 2018.
