The Duchess of Sussex gave birth to her and the Duke's first child--a healthy boy--on Monday, May 6th, 2019. The couple's official Instagram announced that the son weighs seven pounds and three ounces, and that the "Duchess and baby are both healthy and well."

Prince Harry addressed the press, saying that he is "so incredibly proud of his wife," the Duke reported happily. "This little thing is absolutely to die for so I'm just over the moon."

Meghan Markle went on maternity leave in March, except for an unplanned trip to New Zealand where she helped pay tribute to the mosque shooting. Since then, the Duchess has focused on her new son's arrival, pausing her regular royal duties. The palace announced that Meghan went into labor early Monday morning with Harry by her side, the son was officially born at 5:26 a.m.

Royal family members such as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince William have been advised of the new prince's birth and said they are "delighted." The new prince is seventh in line to the throne.

In 2016, Meghan told Best Health, "I can't wait to start a family." Now, she finally has. The couple is still considering names, expected to be announced soon. Congratulations to the new parents!
