8 Ways to Recharge & Refocus

I’ve been in an emotional and creative rut for the longest time and it feels like no matter what I do, I just can’t seem to shake it. Feelings of “imposter syndrome” take hold of me as I often feel as if I’m not good enough at what I do. As a writer, I’m learning this feeling plagues many of us, especially in the creative field. No matter what you’re passionate about, remember why you became attracted to it in the first place. The rest can be recharged with a few simple steps I want you guys to try out with me. Hopefully with some effort, we’ll be able to refocus in no time!

– Get rid of distractions.

Turn off those phones, ignore social media and just chill for a while. You can’t recharge if you’re constantly draining your own battery. 😉

– Get to the root of the problem.

Think about what’s really bugging you and why/how it all started. Work from there to figure out how to beat those inner demons.

– Do things that make you feel good!

Treat yourself to a good book, retail therapy or just zone out to music at home. Whatever makes you happy and your soul shine, do that!

– Get lots of well-deserved rest.

Ever feel like you never even slept when you wake up in the morning? A lot of that can be anxiety-related. Sleep is so important to our productivity. Get at least 8 hours and treat yourself right.

– Get organized.

Clutter makes me insane and if I don’t have a to-do list in front of me, I’m basically a madwoman. Clean your workspace, declutter your brain and check off the things you’ve already accomplished. Having a clear plan laid out in front of you works wonders!

– Cry.

Yes, you read that right. Go ahead and bawl your eyes out. You know you need to. You’ll feel so much better afterwards. Don’t worry about feeling pathetic. We all need to cry sometimes.

– Listen to your own needs.

Think about what you really need in order to feel good again. Pleasing others isn’t always the answer and we can’t be our best selves unless we are happy with who we are. Don’t worry about what others are doing because they’re not walking down your path.

– Get inspired again.

Watch your favorite movie or listen to an album all the way through for some inspiration. If you feel like you’re going through the motions but not making any progress, restart and try again. Try as many times as it takes to get you back on your feet again.
