#FBF – Boy Bands And Girl Groups We Forgot Existed

There was a minute there in the late ‘90s and early 2000s where boy bands and girl groups were all the rage. Record labels were trying desperately to fabricate another Backstreet Boys or ‘NSYNC phenomenon. The bands that followed never really hit the big time, but a few of them had memorable tunes or a flash of stardom. On this #FBF, let’s reflect on some of those boy bands and girl groups we kind of sort of forgot existed:

S Club 7 – This mega group of boys and girls had a popular TV show and a handful of hits in the UK before fizzling out.

No Authority – This band gave us the sweet, sweet line “Hit me with the seven digits!” Thank you for that.

5ive – All I have to say is “Baby, when the lights go out…” and you can just hear their hit song blasting through your boom box.

O-Town – We had high hopes for Ashley Angel, but O-Town never made us lose our cool.

2GE+HER – OK, so this was a fake boy band MTV created. “Say it, don’t spray it” was pretty funny though.

Eden’s Crush – This group was spawned from a WB reality show. They didn’t exactly “crush” the music scene, but they had one hit in the tune “Get Over Yourself” and it was Nicole Scherzinger’s first adventure before The Pussycat Dolls.

Blaque – Poised to be the TLC of the early 2000’s, Blaque appeared in Bring It On, had a platinum record, and rocked a duet with ‘NSYNC. Sadly their staying power wasn’t as major as we hoped.
