10 Best Music Videos To Drop In 2015

With 2015 coming to a close, it’s time to reflect on what an incredible year it was for music – videos, especially. Back in the day before social media, an artist would make an appearance on MTV’s Total Request Live to premiere a video (ahh, the good ol’ days) but now, with easy promo at the tip of their fingertips, YouTube and VEVO are the places for artists to share their work. It’s only a matter of seconds before a video goes viral and these top 10 are our favorites from 2015 by far!

10. Selena Gomez – “Good For You”

Selena Gomez released her fifth studio album, Revival, this past October, and once first single, “Good For You,” hit the airwaves in June, the song skyrocketed. Showing off a more seductive yet vulnerable side to the 23 year-old, the video strips down to a different version from the album version featuring A$AP Rocky and displays the power of being sexy while still maintaining modesty. An alternate video featuring A$AP Rocky was released a few months later.

9. Lana Del Rey – “Music To Watch Boys To”

The chills I get from Lana Del Rey‘s “Music To Watch Boys To” are indescribable. Taken from the singer’s third release, Honeymoon, the video puts you in a dreamlike state as mermaids and gorgeous cinematic imagery keep you on your toes throughout the duration of the five minute track.

8. CHVRCHES – “Leave a Trace”

CHVRCHES released a killer sophomore record, Every Open Eye, this past September and lead single, “Leave a Trace,” was met with a video equally as killer! Featuring lead singer, Lauren Mayberry, in an alternative meets pixie ensemble, the singer is ready to kick some ass as some throwback 80’s vibes come and steal the show.

7. Demi Lovato – “Cool For The Summer”

Demi Lovato really made a splash this summer with her hit, “Cool For The Summer” – the video, however, is fire! Showing a more grown up side to the singer – and the intro single to new album, Confident – “Cool For The Summer” was the track to blast this summer as the singer let her newfound freedom take the reigns.

6. Carly Rae Jepsen – “Run Away With Me”

While most are still buzzing over Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “I Really Like You,” I can’t help but gravitate towards the video for “Run Away With Me.” Taken from the singer’s new album, EMOTION, the video follows Carly Rae and her cameraman boyfriend as they explore the greatest depths of some of the world’s biggest and brightest cities. The feels from just the sax intro alone can keep you on a high for days. Well done, Carly Rae.

5. PVRIS – “Holy”

PVRIS released a steady stream of videos this year but the one that tugged on my heartstrings the most was their video for “Holy,” which also happens to be my favorite track off of their record, White Noise. Capturing an eerie yet beautiful essence of the song, this video is perfection and you must watch it now!

4. Missy Elliott – “WTF (Where They From)” featuring Pharrell Williams

Missy Elliott has always been one of the top contenders of the music industry and you can always count on her to release original and innovative material. Fans have been waiting for a Missy comeback and once the video for new track, “WTF (Where They From)” dropped, the internet went haywire! Those marionettes did it for me, though. Top. Freaking. Notch. Missy always makes me smile and I wish TRL was still around so I can request this!

3. Adele – “Hello”

I think it’s safe to say that when Adele released the video for “Hello” she basically broke the internet. The woman is a powerhouse and her videos always hit home. However, I was a bit surprised to see former 90210 actor, Tristan Wilds as her love interest. I just imagine her flaking out on reading him bedtime stories hence the reason why he’s so upset. Could be just me, though. 😛

2. Echosmith – “Let’s Love”

Echosmith have been that one band that I just love to watch rise to the top – not to mention that they can light up any room with positivity and glitter. Their video for “Let’s Love” is just an example of that ability that can definitely turn a bad day into a better one. There’s disco balls, rad couture, prom dreams and puppies! What more can you ask for?

1. Taylor Swift – “Bad Blood” featuring Kendrick Lamar

Love it or hate it, Taylor Swift‘s “Bad Blood” video is here to stay. Iconic, to say the least, the video features Swift’s “squad” as they battle the forces of evil in some killer attire. Another video that made quite a buzz and almost broke the internet after it premiered at the Billboard Music Awards Swift’s “Bad Blood” is rumored to be about a tiff with fellow songstress, Katy Perry. You can’t deny the bold creativity in this one. I personally love Cara Delevingne‘s character of Mother Chucker. :p

BONUS: Night Terrors of 1927 – “Always Take You Back”

I just had to include this video for the simple fact that it is one of the most gorgeous videos I’ve seen all year. Night Terrors of 1927 kind of crept up on us early this year with the surprise release of their debut, Everything’s Coming Up Roses. “Always Take You Back” is my favorite song off the record and I cannot remember a time when a music video did a song justice as good as this one does.
