For the readers who have not heard your music before, describe your sound in three words!

pop, 808, freedom,

When did you first discover your love for music?

My first encounter with music was playing my first drum kit I got from Santa when I was five. It was cherry red and I fell in love with rhythm.

You just recently released your EP ‘This Side Of Paradise’, tell us more about that!

Yes! I am super excited to finally have the EP out so people can finally hear it! I’ve been working on it all year and I am super proud of it. I recommend listening to it with the windows rolled down, cruising on the road, on blast!

Pick one song off the EP and tell us what inspired the lyrics!

Cliffs Edge was a very visual inspiration. I wanted to write a song with some sexual tension. I imagined standing on top of this cliff with the wind blowing ocean air, slightly overcast and just going crazy over someone. That excitement and in the moment butterflies you get. I pictured a moment that I hadn’t necessarily experienced, yet felt so close to it at the same time. I get most of my inspirations for songs by taking feelings I’ve felt and placing them in a new environment/world in my mind.

What is the hardest part of being a musician?

I think one of the hardest parts about being a musician is that you are inspired by so many artists and musicians. You love so much that it’s sometimes hard to focus and tackle one thing at a time. You love all forms of music and want to do it all. And you find that your journey as a musician is finding your own voice within all of those sounds.

If you could design your dream tour bus, what would it look like?

Omg don’t even get me started. It would be black on black. It would contain a HUGE fridge filled with so much food. A massive bed with restoration hardware pillows and decor. A projector for movies. And my entire Kiyoko team and best friends. I would also bring my dog Henry and he would have his own lounge area.

What is one song you heard this year so far you wish you wrote?

Didn’t come out this year but “I Follow Rivers” By Lykke Li… It’s my jam.

What can we expect to see from you this year? Any tours in the works?

Yeah I’m going on my first U.S tour as the direct opener for Never Shout Never starting next week actually! Very very excited to get this music on the road and I hope to continue to tour back to back in between my acting gigs. My new show CSI: Cyber premieres March 4th on CBS so make sure to check that out too.

What is the best advice you can give someone who is trying to follow their dreams?

You will achieve greatness and your full potential when you finally stay true to who you are, and trust your instincts.

Any last words for your fans and our readers?

Thanks Kiyokians already for the incredible love for my EP ‘This Side of Paradise’ and if you haven’t checked it out yet, go give it a spin. 😉
