EXCLUSIVE: Bowling For Soup Talk New Album, Advice And Tour!

We are so pumped to announce that Bowling For Soup is releasing a greatist hits album called Songs That People Actually Liked Vol. 1 (1994-2003)! This will be released in January so keep an eye out for that! Until then, here is a really fun interview we did with Jaret Reddick for you all to check out!

1-Your greatest hits album is coming out soon, how did you select the songs for the album?

It wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. Since it was songs from the first 10 years, I thought it would be cut and dry. Basically, we took any songs that had been singles, then obvious fan favorites and then songs that had the most meaning to the band. That got us down to about 25 songs and then we went from there. I think at the end of the day, we pretty much nailed it.

2-You have a new track on your album called 20 years (That’s a lot of beers), what was the inspiration behind that?

Pretty much what it says. We have been together 20 years, and have shared a lot of beers. Lots of memories and amazing stories. It’s been a fabulous ride!

3-This year marked your 20th anniversary! What is one of your most memorable tour stories?

There are way too many to just pick one. We have seen the world multiple times and have been through a lot together. IT is pretty amazing all we have seen.

4-You guys have had the same line up and been performing together since 1998, any tips for other bands on how to stay together for so long?

It is important to know your role in the band, and understand that the band is a sum of it’s parts. Know when to push each others buttons and when to back away. I think too many bands get bogged down in fighting for credit for shit. We have always taken it how it comes.

5-How does it feel knowing that a lot of your fans have been listening to you their whole lives over the past 20 years?

Pretty surreal. It’s pretty crazy to have fans that were kids when we started bringing THEIR kids to shows now. We have had 3 and 4 generations in front of us at once. That’s insane!

6-If you could tell your 20 years ago selfs something today, what would it be?

Enjoy the ride! And on June 27th, 2002, you are going to shit your pants in a movie theater. Bring extra shorts!

7-What is the biggest piece of advice for any new musicians hoping to have a career as long as yours?

Just enjoy yourself. there are no guarantees. If you get caught up in the bullshit, it is easy to get frustrated. Surround yourself with your best friends and work together! And Fucking hustle!!!

8-Any new music or US tours in the works?

Yep! I have a new album with my other band People on Vacation coming out just after this BFS album. Both bands are touring the US in the new year, and POV will be in the UK in February. Busy, busy!

What is YOUR favorite Bowling For Soup song?!
