Mindy White Shares the best Natural Beauty Alternatives!

Let’s face it (pun intended), sometimes our skin and bodies justdon’twant to cooperate. Anytime I’m traveling, on tour, or simply stressed out… my skin goes on the fritz, my body gets achey and fatigued, and I physically become sick. If you’re like me and have these same problems… your first instinct is probably to reach for the beauty creams, medicines, and pills (which are stocked full of harmful chemicals and doing more harm than good). But listen up! There are some incredible alternative methods I’ve gotten into that are much safer, cheaper, and long-lasting.

Essential Oils.

I had been hearing about the benefits of using essential oils for years and just never got into them. Let me just say that I was incredibly NAIVE. I haven’t had to take medicine for headaches/allergies/stress ever since. Native American Nutritionals is my favorite brand because the oils are 100% pure, where as other companies (BEWARE) distill their oils a few times, making them less pure (which provide little relief or healing). Essential oils have SO many uses. They provide relief for headaches, muscle pain, anxiety, acne, stomach aches, fatigue, cold, allergies, etc, and even can be used for disinfecting/freshening households. Tons of celebrities swear by using them in their beauty routines. Emma Stone uses Grapeseed Oil, Zooey Deschanel loves Pomegranate Oil, Miranda Kerr and Gisele Bündchen both use Rose Oil, and *ahem* who wouldn’t trust a Supermodel for beauty routines?!

For those of you intrigued, my recommendation for “beginner” oils would be: Cucumber Seed, Peppermint, Lavender, Tea Tree, and Immune Strength. For those of you already using oils–high five–but I encourage you to research the oils you are using to make sure that they are 100% PURE. Apple Cider Vinegar.

ACV has been a saving grace for me. I’ll be the first one to admit that I thought people were crazy to want to drink this stuff, but if you can get past the bite, the benefits are WELL worth it. ACV fights everything from allergies, to upset stomachs, colds & flu, and acid reflux. You can also use it externally for a natural skin toner, dandruff, deodorant, sunburns, and more. It’s said to also aid weight loss. I’m telling you, an ACV+lemon+cayenne+honey shot will heal almost any internal irritation. Plus you can use it in tons of recipes. Make sure you’re buying ACV with the “Mother” in it. I like Bragg’s Organic Apple Cider Vinegar the best! You can find it at most supermarkets or online.

Coconut Oil.

Maybe you cook with it, but did you know you can use Coconut Oil in your beauty routine? Coconut Oil is full of healthy fats so it’s one of the best face+body lotions, eye-make up removers, deodorants, and hair conditioners. It’s also a natural energy booster and tons of people swear by adding it to hot coffee as creamer! There are over 100 other uses for it! Coconut Oil is kind of a Superhero when it comes to health and beauty. Make sure whatever the Coconut Oil that you buy is organic, not refined, and non-GMO. I like Artisana and Garden of Life‘s brands which are sold at natural markets and through their sites.

Acupressure Mat.

Personally, regular massages don’t fully provide relief for me. In fact, sometimes they make my pain WORSE. It wasn’t until I tried Acupressure that I started feeling lasting relief. When I saw that an IN HOME Complete Acupressure Mat existed, I had to try it! When my mat arrived, I ripped it open like it was Christmas morning and immediately got on it. I’ve only been using it for a week now, and I already have relief from neck and back pain. It’s the first thing I do in the morning for 20 minutes (well…if my boyfriend hasn’t stolen it first). Regular Acupressure visits can add up quickly, and I don’t always have time to make appointments, so this mat is amazing. It relieves headaches, stress, virtually all back pain, helps digestive disorders, and more. Nayoya’s Yoga Mat is another one of my favorites for my Yoga people out there! So LISTEN UP… if you enjoy massages, deal with every stress and pain, or already love Acupressure, this mat is your new best friend. It sure is mine. //www.nayoya.com
