Crew Love: Troy Lusk!

Hey guys,

It has been a WHILE since I have done a “Crew Love” spotlight. If this is new to you, I basically spotlight the amazing crew that help out your favorite bands on the daily! This spotlight is on a great friend, Troy Lusk!

Here is his story:

For people who don’t know you, tell us a bit about yourself!

Hi, my name is Troy Lusk. I am led by a passion to help others and an inner drive to be a person who leads within the music industry.

I was Tour Manager of Every Avenue from 2009-2012, where we toured successfully through the United States, United Kingdom, Japan and Australia. Before my managing gig, I was a Tour Marketing Assistant at Fearless Records. Recently, I continued to progress in my music business development with internship efforts at Synergy Artist Management and Sight In Sound, while simultaneously focusing on completing my college degree. I earned my B.A. in Communications, Entertainment and Tourism from California State University, Fullerton in May of 2014.

You used to tour, what was the hardest part of touring consistently?

The hardest part of touring for me was consistently being apart from close friends and family. Along with that comes missing important life events and accomplishments of theirs, as well as, family holidays. I am a strong believer in sacrifices, and everyday I tried to remind myself that I was doing something I really did enjoy and am very appreciative of. Touring is hard, but I had the best time of my life with Every Avenue!

What made you journey from the road back to school?

Getting a college degree was a personal goal of mine. I’ve always considered it such a big accomplishment and I wanted to achieve that. Timing was perfect, Every Avenue decided to take a hiatus and it was time for me to transition back into school, which I believed would heighten my knowledge and value for becoming an artist manager.

You have started a really cool project called The Assist Team, what is that all about?

The Assist Team started as an idea. I dreamed about being able to bring all the talented people I had met on the road together to help others bring their own dreams to life. That’s what The Assist Team is really about, helping someone’s passion lead to action and their dreams become reality.

What are your major goals for the rest of 2014?

My goals for the rest of 2014 are to continue loving every second of working on The Assist Team. Developing and growing the project into a company that people want to be a part of. Discovering and managing talent and putting them in positions to have their talent heard or seen across the world!

If you could get hired tomorrow as the talent manager for ANY artist or group, who would it be?

Sam Smith! The guy has magic in his voice, he’s young and I love the UK fashion.

What inspires you everyday?

Other people inspire me everyday. I truly believe together we all accomplish more, that’s why I believe in a TEAM and surrounding myself with good people doing good things.

Do you have any advice for the readers who are trying to follow their dreams?

Think about what your passion is and find “why”? Why is it you love that? Then dream about accomplishing every wildest goal you want to achieve. Finally, try. Try to achieve it using all your passion. True passion is believable and contagious, go for it.
