Reasons Why I NEEDED To Be The Pink Power Ranger

I am not afraid to admit that I had an obsession with the Pink Power Ranger growing up. More specifically, Kimberly. I constantly begged my mom to let me change my name to Kimberly so that I could be that much closer to being the ultimate pink crime fighter. She was everything and she did it all and to me, and many others I’m sure, she was the coolest of the cool!

I would find a rock and draw on it with marker to pretend it was my transformer thingy and then I would do the whole transformation routine before I would go apeshit on my two older brothers. Ah, I miss little Bianca. Brilliant ideas, that little one had.

She was just so amazing and so sassy and sarcastic and funny and she kicked butt and looked super cool and I needed to be just like her. I was entirely sure I was going to find a way to become a power ranger by the time I was in high school.

She kicked some serious booty and growing up with two older brothers, that was a vital survival skill for me!

She had some super cool moves and for someone whose acrobatic abilities ranged from cartwheels to sitting upside down and flipping herself over the couch, I was mad impressed.

Not only could she do anything boys could do, but she also made it look super easy!

She also had no problems challenging the boys. She was indeed my inspiration. It wouldn’t necessarily work out as well for me, but hey, I could taddle like no other!

She was everything I wanted to be and also just like super pretty. Like, she was lookin’ good for someone who just fought like 10 creepy bad guys.

It took me awhile to come to terms with the fact that power rangers weren’t real and that I couldn’t and shouldn’t spend my time trying to be this fictional character. I was already a pretty awesome kid. While I couldn’t be her, I learned a lot from Kimberly and now no boys can push me around and I pride myself on my sarcasm and sass. My name is Bianca and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The moral of the story kids, is that it’s totally cool to have role models, but always be yourself. Unless you can be Beyoncé, then always be Beyoncé. Just kidding. Kinda.

Who was your “pink power ranger” as a kid?
